Days after confirming the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro launch, the handset has allegedly been spotted on the global benchmarking site Geekbench AI. Tipster Abhishek Yadav shared a listing of the device, which will apparently carry the model number Nothing A069. Notably, the Phone (3a) Pro (review) was introduced with the model number, Nothing A059A. While Geekbench primarily measures the machine learning and artificial intelligence of the device, it also reveals key hardware details. The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro could seemingly be powered by the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, paired with 12GB of RAM.
According to the listing, the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro will run Android 16 out of the box, which is no surprise. The OEM has always prioritised offering the latest software to its users. Moving on, the listing confirms ‘volcano’ motherboard for the device, which is strongly associated with Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7-series chipset. The Geekbench only confirms the 1.8Ghz base clock speed, ARMv8 architecture, and octa-core configuration.
However, the tipster dug further into the source code, which revealed additional clock speeds of 2.40GHz and 2.71GHz, which seemingly belong to the performance and prime cores of the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC, respectively. This indicates the latest Snapdragon chipset for the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro, aided by at least 12GB of RAM.
This is expected to bring some performance improvements over the smartphone’s predecessor, Nothing Phone (3a) Pro, which rocks the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 SoC under the hood. However, don’t expect it to be significantly better. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 SoC recently debuted in India with the Redmi Note 15 Pro+ (review), which performed only marginally better than the Phone (3a) Pro in the Geekbench single-core and multi-core tests. However, on AnTuTu, the Redmi smartphone showed a noticeable edge, with scores roughly 25 percent higher.
In real-world use, our reviewer found the Note 15 Pro+ lagging behind the competitors in performance, despite it handling everyday tasks like browsing, messaging, and media consumption smoothly. The handset has been priced in India starting at Rs 37,999. The Nothing Phone (4a) Pro isn’t going to be cheap either. Nothing CEO Carl Pei has already warned of the price hike amidst the components price hike.
The tipped US pricing suggests the handset may cost up to $540 (~Rs 49,000), up from $459 (~Rs 45,000) of the Phone (3a) Pro. The Phone (4a) series India pricing is expected to be slightly more competitive, given the Phone (3a) Pro was introduced in India starting at Rs 29,999. The handset should be able justify its performance if priced in the sub-Rs 35,000.
Nothing has yet to confirm the Nothing Phone (4a) Pro launch in India, but it is rumoured to arrive in March alongside the standard Phone (4a) and an affordable Headphone (a). The smartphones are expected to come in as many as five colour options: black, white, yellow, blue, and pink.
Additionally, the Nothing Phone (4a) lineup is rumoured to come in with a new design and a marginal battery bump. Previously-leaked Phone (4a) Pro EPREL entry reveals a 5,080mAh battery, which could typically be 5,100mAh, with support for 50W wired charging. The handsets are confirmed to offer UFS 3.1 storage, which is pretty standard for a mid-range offering.
That’s all we know so far! Stay tuned to 91mobiles for more updates on the smartphones. That said, if you are an existing Phone (3a) series user, the upcoming Phone (4a) series might not excite you that much and may hold off your buying decision.
