OnePlus 12R will be a rebranded version of the OnePlus Ace 3 which will make its debut as soon as this month in China.
The phone may not feature the previously rumoured 32MP telephoto camera.
But it comes with other improvements such as a metal body and a high-brightness LTPO display alongside Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset.
OnePlus recently unveiled the flagship OnePlus 12 in its home country. The spree of launches has not ended just yet because the brand is expected to bring the more affordable OnePlus Ace 3 to the market soon. The same phone is expected to launch next month in global markets as the OnePlus 12R and here are some new details on this device from a reliable tipster.
According to reliable Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station (via Gizmochina), OnePlus has dropped its plan to use a 32MP IMX709 2X telephoto camera in the OnePlus Ace 3. The phone could instead feature a macro camera similar to its predecessor. Enthusiasts may not be too happy about this move as it was expected to upgrade the camera system significantly.
Further, the tipster says the device will feature a metal body with a glass back, which is a significant improvement over the OnePlus Ace 2/11R's plastic frame.
The Chinese variant of the phone is expected to feature Gray, Blue and Gold colour options, but the global variant may miss out on one of these variants as per usual trend.
OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus Ace 3 will feature a 1.5K high-brightness BOE panel. Recent rumours have pointed out that it could have the same 4,500-nits peak brightness as the flagship OnePlus 12. The LTPO panel could also improve efficiency with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset. The global launch is reportedly slated for January 23rd, 2024.
