OnePlus 15 gearing up for India launch as microsite goes live, new features teased

Reports suggest that the launch in India might happen on November 14th, which is a tighter release window than the company’s usual January timeframe. That release window will be closer to other Android flagships such as Realme GT 8 series, Xiaomi 17 series and iQOO 15, and might tip early adopters towards the OnePlus 15 over the other phones.

The device will be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC and Android 16-based OxygenOS 16, which was unveiled last week. The phone will join the lineup of other 8 Elite Gen 5 flagships like the Xiaomi 17 series, Realme GT 8 Pro and iQOO 15. Optimisation in this case will be key as we benchmark these devices in real life, but from initial impressions of OxygenOS 16, there appears to be quite a bit of polish, which should have an impact on performance.

OnePlus 15 takes on the foundation of its predecessor, the OnePlus 13, and continues to evolve with emphasis on greater battery capacity and better AI performance. The latest phone features a 7,300mAh battery, one of the largest available globally in a flagship phone, paired with 120W wired charging and 50W wireless charging. This represents a significant leap from the 5,400mAh battery and 100W charging configuration of the OnePlus 13, aligning the new device with fast-charging flagship brands such as iQOO and Xiaomi.

The OnePlus 15 also adds some new features specifically targeting gamers. The G2 game network chip serves to make your phone’s internet connection less sporadic, particularly when the Wi-Fi or cellular signals are poor. This translates into you being less likely to experience interruptions when you browse or game online. The “Touch Display Sync” option gets the screen to react more quickly to your touches. Scrolling, typing, or gaming, the phone will feel smoother and more responsive, cutting back on any lag between your finger and the action on the screen.

For heat control during extended use, OnePlus has introduced the Glacier cooling system. It incorporates materials such as aerogel insulation to more efficiently distribute and cool heat throughout the phone. This helps keep the device cooler and more comfortable to hold for extended gaming or high multitasking. Generally, these features are intended to make the phone feel more robust, responsive, and comfortable in everyday use without making things unnecessarily complicated for the user. These features are not as heavily promoted by rivals, which helps differentiate OnePlus in this niche.

The OnePlus 15 is part of an expanding roster of 2025 Android flagships centered around AI-aided performance calibration and power efficiency. Powered by the G2 gaming chip, improved cooling, and a 1.5K BOE Flexible Oriental OLED screen providing a 165Hz refresh rate, OnePlus is tracking the broader industry trend of closer hardware-software integration, as exemplified by devices such as the Vivo X200 and OPPO Find X8.

For consumers, the OnePlus 15 is looking to be a performance-oriented choice with robust gaming capabilities and solid battery life. It should appeal to Android enthusiasts and gamers alike; however, the photography enthusiasts might be sceptical as the company breaks away from Hasselblad and introduces a proprietary DetailMax Engine for its camera this year. The phone will be available in India in Absolute Black and Sand Dune colour variants in an all-new design this year.
