OnePlus to expand service network in India to over 600 centres; shuts offline sales

Highlights
  • OnePlus will expand its India service network by 50 percent to over 600 centres.
  • The announcement comes amid global uncertainty, including shutdown rumours and the exit of India CEO Robin Liu.
  • The OnePlus Nord 6 launch is set for April 7th.

OnePlus has confirmed in a press release that its shutting down offline sales in India and going back to its roots of a direct-to-consumer model. Simultaneously, it has said it’ll expand its after-sales service network in India by 50 percent from April 2026, taking the total number of authorised centres from around 400 to more than 600 across over 500 cities. The announcement comes at a time when the brand has been facing questions around its global operations, following reports and leadership changes in recent months. The expansion will be carried out through OPPO’s service network, effectively increasing reach without setting up entirely new infrastructure.

OnePlus says the expansion should help reduce wait times and travel distance, while continuing to offer support through trained technicians and genuine spare parts. For users, a wider network means fewer cases where a device needs to be sent to another city for repairs. That has been a common issue, especially in smaller towns. The use of OPPO’s network shows how closely the two brands now operate, though for customers this mainly shows up as more service points.

“OnePlus has reaffirmed its commitment to its direct-to-consumer model — the channel that first established the brand and built its loyal following in India. By returning its roots, OnePlus will deepen its engagement with its core community of tech enthusiasts and digital-first consumers, while bringing greater value through competitive pricing and a sharpened focus on innovation tailored for the Indian market.”

OnePlus’ India plans on track

The timing of the announcement is notable as earlier this year, a report by Android Headlines claimed that OnePlus could shut down operations globally, which the company denied. More recently, tipster reports have suggested a possible pullback from parts of Europe and the US, though there has been no official confirmation. At the same time, Robin Liu has stepped down as India CEO, adding to the uncertainty. OnePlus, however, says its India operations continue as usual, with local strategy and business continuity in place.

The company is also preparing to launch the OnePlus Nord 6 in India on April 7th, indicating that its product plans in the country remain active. Early details point to a focus on performance, suggesting OnePlus will continue to compete in the mid-range and sub-flagship segments, where brands like Xiaomi, Samsung, and iQOO are already aggressive.

Despite the noise around its global operations, there is no immediate sign of disruption of OnePlus’ services in India. With new launches lined up and service coverage expanding, the company’s plans in the country appear to be continuing as usual. If you’re considering a OnePlus phone, there isn’t much here that should make you pause right now. The company says support, warranties, and updates in India will continue as usual, and the wider service network could actually make ownership easier, especially if you’re not in a big city.
