OPPO has launched the OPPO A6x, its latest budget 5G smartphone, in India. The phone is now available for sale across Amazon, Flipkart, the OPPO India online store, and offline retailers. Starting under Rs 15,000, the A6x joins OPPO’s A-series lineup as a device aimed at users who want long battery life, smooth performance, and 5G connectivity in the sub-Rs 15,000 segment.

The phone comes in three variants: 4GB + 64GB, 4GB + 128GB and 6GB + 128GB, priced at Rs 12,499, Rs 13,499 and Rs 14,999 respectively. Buyers can avail a three-month interest-free EMI offer on select bank cards. OPPO is offering the phone in two colour options – Ice Blue and Olive Green – with a matte finish.

The OPPO A6x 5G has a 6.75-inch HD+ LCD display with a refresh rate of 120Hz, an upper limit of 1,125 nits peak brightness, and a touch sampling rate of 240Hz. According to OPPO, the display produces 16.7 million colours and supports 83 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.

The device is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 6300, the same chipset that was seen on the predecessor, the OPPO A5x. The processor is paired with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB storage. For the average user, that should translate into steady performance for social media, browsing, video streaming, casual gaming and regular multitasking. The A6x also gets a slightly larger 6,500mAh battery compared to the A5x’s 6,000mAh unit, while retaining fast 45W SuperVOOC charging.

For optics, the device houses a 13MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera, both of which can record 1080p videos. However, the phone can record at 60fps now compared to 30fps on the A5x. It’s a pretty basic setup but expected for this segment. Security is given by way of a side-mounted fingerprint sensor and facial recognition. It features 5G, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.4, USB-C, and a 3.5mm headphone jack for connectivity. It is 212g in weight and 8.6mm thick, expected given the large battery included in the device. The phone is IP64 rated for endurance, which is pretty standard in the segment.

In terms of market context, the OPPO A6x 5G drops itself into a busy category with rivals from brands such as Samsung, Realme, POCO, and Motorola targeting the same budget-conscious 5G buyer. Among those, its immediate competitor, the Samsung Galaxy M17 5G, features a Super AMOLED display, which brings deeper colours and better contrast compared to LCD screens. Though OPPO doesn’t match that panel technology on the A6x, the latter counters with a larger battery, faster charging and higher refresh rate, providing value to users in a different way. For buyers who value endurance and smoothness more than display vividness, the A6x is the more practical choice.

The OPPO A6x 5G will appeal most to users who want long battery life, smooth everyday performance, and reliable software without stretching their budget. Those prioritising AMOLED displays or stronger cameras could look at alternatives such as Samsung’s Galaxy M17 5G or some of POCO’S more affordable 5G models, but for the cost-conscious user valuing endurance and a clean, predictable user experience, the A6x 5G provides a balanced, well-priced option.
