OPPO Reno15 series launching in India on January 8th bringing Pro Mini, skipping Pro Max

The Reno15 Pro Mini is therefore not a new device, but the name is new to the Reno lineup. It features a 6.32-inch AMOLED display, weighs around 187 grams, and measures 7.99mm in thickness. The device joins a growing list of compact premium smartphones flooding the market, including the onePlus 13s, Vivo X200FE, Vivo X300 and even OPPO’s own flagship, the Find X9.

Design as always is quite central to OPPO’s pitch with the Reno series. All three Reno15 phones use OPPO’s HoloFusion glass finish, which creates a layered, three-dimensional effect on a single-piece sculpted glass back. The camera module uses a square-ring layout that blends into the rear panel instead of looking like a separate block. Colour options vary across the lineup. The Reno15 Pro comes in Sunset Gold and Cocoa Brown. The Reno15 Pro Mini keeps Cocoa Brown and adds Glacier White, which has a ribbon-like texture. The standard Reno15 is offered in Glacier White, Twilight Blue, and Aurora Blue.

Durability is consistent across all models with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings, covering splash resistance, freshwater immersion up to 1.5 metres, and protection against high-pressure hot water. OPPO has also added a platinum-coated USB-C port to improve resistance to corrosion over time.

Display sizes and protection differ by model. The Reno15 Pro will come with a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with ultra-thin 1.15mm bezels and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2. The Reno15 Pro Mini will sport a 6.32-inch AMOLED display with Gorilla Glass 7i. The standard Reno15 specifications haven’t been confirmed for India but the global model features a 6.59-inch AMOLED panel with Gorilla Glass 7i. All three use FHD+ AMOLED panels with 10-bit colour and adaptive refresh rates up to 120Hz.

The Reno15 Pro and Reno15 Pro Mini will both employ a 200MP main camera, paired with a 50MP 3.5x telephoto lens and a 50MP ultra-wide camera. The 3.5x telephoto camera is tuned for portraits and can also be used to shoot subjects from a distance without losing detail. For group photos, OPPO is using software that processes faces individually, so people standing at different depths appear evenly exposed. The standard Reno15 5G steps down to a 50MP main camera but still retains a 3.5x telephoto lens, which is not common in this price segment.

AI features are largely focused on editing. AI Editor 3.0 includes tools like AI Portrait Glow and AI Motion Photo Slow-Mo, which let users adjust lighting or clean up motion after a photo is taken. There are also creative tools like Popout, which combine photos or motion shots into layered images. On the video side, the Pro models support 4K HDR recording at up to 60fps across all cameras, including the front, with stabilisation and consistent colour when switching lenses.

For performance, the Reno15 Pro Mini and the Reno15 Pro in India, are expected to run on the MediaTek Dimensity 8450 chipset, the same processor used in the global Reno15 Pro and Pro Max. The standard Reno15 5G, if it is the global model, will be powered by the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 processor. On the battery side, the Pro Mini could pack a 6,200mAh cell with fast charging support, while both the Reno15 Pro and the regular Reno15 are expected to use 6,500mAh batteries with 80W wired fast charging. These capacities should provide all-day use given the efficient chipsets and adaptive display refresh rates.

As for pricing, a leak suggests a box price of Rs 64,999 for the Reno15 Pro Mini in the 12GB + 256GB variant, so maybe a selling price of around Rs 60,000 but offers could make the deal sweeter. However, that would still be a clear jump from last year’s Reno14 Pro, which started at Rs 49,999 for the same configuration. You can’t blame OPPO explicitly for the price rise as it aligns with the broader hike trend seen across segments as memory component costs have gone up.

For buyers, the Reno15 Pro Mini makes the most sense for those who want a compact phone without giving up on battery life or camera flexibility. The Reno15 Pro, with its larger display and battery, will suit users who prefer a bigger screen for media and gaming but want the same camera hardware. The standard Reno15 is likely to appeal to those looking to stay closer to the lower end of the lineup while still getting features like a telephoto camera and fast charging.
