Highlights
  • Realme 16 5G has a selfie mirror on the rear camera module.
  • It’s teased to feature the slimmest design with a 7,000mAh battery.
  • Realme 16 5G India launch date hasn’t been revealed yet.

Realme 16 5G is teased to launch in India soon. The upcoming device has a key design focus, which is a selfie mirror on the rear camera module. Realme is also betting on a slim design and compact form factor without compromising on the battery capacity. The Realme 16 5G is confirmed to pack a 7,000mAh battery. Realme is also positioning the 16 5G as the slimmest smartphone to pack a 7,000mAh battery, measuring 8.1mm in thickness and weighing 183g.

Realme 16 to house 7,000mAh battery

Realme credits this to what it calls an “AirCraft Structure,” which essentially focuses on tighter internal stacking and higher energy-density battery cells. This could help the Realme 16 5G translate into a phone that genuinely delivers multi-day usage without the ergonomic compromises typically associated with big-battery devices. That said, most phones these days with 7,000mAh or larger batteries aren’t bulky anymore, thanks to the silicon-carbon technology.

On the design front, Realme is introducing a new “Gleaming Wings” finish for the 16 5G. The multi-layered gradient pattern creates a shifting blue-gold effect under light, aiming to stand out in a segment where visual differentiation is becoming increasingly important. The smartphone also has an anti-fingerprint coating and a skin-friendly back panel.

Up front is a somewhat compact 6.57-inch display, paired with ultra-narrow bezels and rounded edges. While not a small phone by traditional standards, this size strikes a balance between immersive viewing and one-handed comfort, something that may appeal to users who don’t want larger screens.

Another interesting addition is the selfie-focused “mirror camera” approach, which may appeal to content creators and social media users. This essentially lets you take selfies with the rear camera by using the small circular mirror as a viewfinder.

Realme 16 5G specifications: what to expect

As for the rest of the specifications, the Realme 16 5G is expected to feature a 50MP Sony IMX852 main camera and a 2MP monochrome sensor. It could house a 50MP front camera for selfies. The smartphone might launch with the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 Turbo chipset, which may not seem like an upgrade from its predecessor, the Realme 15, which uses the Dimensity 7300 Plus. We should still wait for reviews before jumping to conclusions.

If the Realme 16 5G can deliver reliable performance, efficient power management, and a capable camera system, the Realme 16 5G could stand out as a practical choice for users who want a stylish and compact phone that lasts well beyond a single day on a charge. So if you’re someone who likes taking selfies or wants a phone that isn’t too bulky but still offers a large battery, the Realme 16 5G may be worth waiting for.
