Realme 16 Pro series to launch on January 6th in India with new ‘Urban Wild’ design language
Realme has confirmed that the Realme 16 Pro series will launch in India on January 6th, bringing in the brand’s popular number series refresh early in the new year. The series is expected to comprise the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 16 Pro+ phones. Along with the date, Realme has also announced that the phones have been designed in collaboration with Japanese industrial designer Naoto Fukasawa, who had earlier partnered with the brand for devices like the Realme X2 Pro and Realme GT Master Edition.
Design has always been a focus for Realme’s number series, and the 16 Pro lineup continues this tradition. Realme calls the new design language ‘Urban Wild Design,’ which combines natural textures with modern city style. The company has confirmed the phones will come in four colour variants — Camellia Pink and Orchid Purple, inspired by flowers commonly used during Indian festivals, and the classic Master Gold and Master Grey. The Gold and Grey models seemingly sport a textured finish, while the pink and purple variants incorporate glass backs.

The Master Gold and Master Grey colours use bio-based organic silicone for the back panel made partly from plant-based straw, which is an industry-first. The material is said to be soft, skin-friendly, and resistant to dirt and wear. The phones are 8.49mm thick with rounded edges like that on the Realme 15 Pro, ostensibly for better grip comfort.
Visually, the camera module stands out and is pretty different from the two large circular lens cutouts in the 15 Pro. For the Realme 16 Pro series, there’s a rounded square island with a pill for sensor placement, slightly like the OnePlus 15‘s camera layout but oriented a little differently. Realme says the module uses PVD coating inspired by watchmaking paired with a metallic mid-frame, adding a more premium touch compared to the Realme 15 series.
Camera-wise, Realme has confirmed a 200MP Portrait Master, which is probably the main camera. Realme has also teased portrait zoom from 1x to 10x, with 3.5x zoom highlighted, strongly suggesting the presence of a telephoto lens. That would be a significant leap over the Realme 15 Pro that did not feature a telephoto shooter and perhaps enough to give the 16 Pro series an edge over competitors in the same price bracket, where telephoto lenses are still rare. The phones will also introduce Realme’s new LumaColor Algorithm for brighter low-light photos with more vivid colours and AI Edit Genie 2.0 for post-processing enhancements.
While full specifications haven’t been revealed yet, Realme has confirmed that the series will use a Snapdragon chipset. Battery life is another talking point, with the brand teasing an all-day battery that could be larger than 6,500mAh. Early rumours suggest the Realme 16 Pro+ may pack a massive 7,000mAh battery with support for 80W fast charging.
Leaks further suggest that the Realme 16 Pro+ will sport a 6.78-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution, a refresh rate of 144Hz, and a triple rear camera setup with a 200MP primary sensor, an 8MP ultra-wide shooter, and a periscope telephoto lens. On the software side, the Realme 16 Pro series will ship with realme UI 7.0 based on Android 16, along with a promise of three OS upgrades and four years of security updates. Most of these specs are most likely true as a TENAA listing of the Realme 16 Pro+ verified most of these features.
While there’s still no word on pricing and final specifications, the Realme 16 Pro series is building on the Realme 15 lineup offered with more design elements and stronger camera hardware. The Realme 16 Pro series should be one to keep an eye on, especially for those buyers looking to upgrade early next year with standout design and significantly improved zoom photography in the mid-range.
