Realme 16 Pro series, Realme 15 India prices reportedly hiked by up to Rs 4,000 due to ‘unavoidable’ reasons

Highlights
  • The Realme 16 Pro is said to retail at a starting price of Rs 34,999, while the 16 Pro+ could cost Rs 43,999 for the base variant.
  • The Realme 15 5G is also getting a price hike of Rs 3,000.
  • The revised prices are expected to take effect from February 11th.

Update: The Realme 16 Pro series and the Realme 15 smartphones’ prices have been updated on the official website. The Realme 16 Pro will now retail starting at Rs 34,999 instead of Rs 31,999, while the Realme 16 Pro+ is now listed at Rs 43,999 – up from its launch price of Rs 39,999 for the base variant. The Realme 15 will now be selling at Rs 28,999 instead of Rs 25,999.

Realme appears to have increased the prices of its recently launched Realme 16 Pro series, along with the standard Realme 15 smartphone. Tipster Abhishek Yadav has shared an alleged updated price list, possibly sent to retail partners, indicating a hike of up to Rs 4,000. The increase is said to be linked to ongoing shortages of memory components and chipsets, an industry-wide issue that is ultimately being passed on to consumers.

Realme is yet to officially confirm the price revision, but the Realme 16 Pro+ appears to be facing the steepest hike at Rs 4,000, while the Realme 16 Pro and Realme 15 are reportedly getting costlier by Rs 3,000. The circular cites an unavoidable increase in memory, chipset, and overall smartphone ecosystem costs for the “adjustments” of the prices.

The price hike is said to come into effect from February 11th. It remains unclear whether the revision will be limited to the offline market or extend to both online and offline channels. For now, all three smartphones continue to be listed at their launch prices on Realme’s official websites.

The Realme 16 Pro series was launched in India last month.

If you have been eyeing any of these smartphones, it is best to grab them now. As observed in our Realme 16 Pro+ review, the handset should appeal to buyers looking for a capable camera setup that performs well across various shooting scenarios. Performance may not be its strongest suit, but it gets the job done for regular users. Battery life and charging speeds remain excellent as well, while the software support remains decent.

The Relame 16 Pro (review), on the other hand, makes a compelling case for itself with a vibrant display, all-day battery life, loud speakers, and robust durability. Like the Pro+ variant, the software support and performance of the smartphone also remain limited.

As for the Realme 15 (review), it delivers adequate performance for its price, though its UI may feel somewhat cluttered. Where the smartphone truly stands out is battery life, backed by a massive 7,000mAh capacity, along with a bright 144Hz curved display and cameras enhanced with AI features.
