The Realme Narzo 70x is an affordable smartphone that shares several specs with the previously launched Realme 12x in the company’s number series lineup. If you wish to dive deeper into the analysis and see how that fared, we recommend checking out our Realme 12x review. In this Realme Narzo 70x, we’ll provide an overview of its capabilities and discuss who should consider buying it. Check it out.

Verdict

The Realme Narzo 70x is a decent budget smartphone for Amazon buyers. It delivers a respectable performance for everyday usage, along with a reliable battery backup and fast charging support. The software might not be closer to stock Android, but it is feature-rich and provides a ton of customisation options.

Design and display

The Realme Narzo 70x design lacks panache, opting instead for a simple look with a matte finish back and a noticeable circular camera module accented with chrome edges. A thin crescent line runs horizontally just below the camera module, although it’s barely noticeable on the Snow Mountain Blue variant we reviewed.

The handset is crafted from plastic, contributing to its lightweight design. Additionally, the phone features flat edges with a glossy finish, which may not provide the most comfortable grip but does make the device easy to handle. The USB Type-C port for charging and data transfer is located at the bottom edge, along with a 3.5mm headphone jack and a speaker grille. The fingerprint scanner is integrated into the power button on the right spine.

As for the viewing experience, the Narzo 70x features a 120Hz, 6.67-inch LCD display. The FHD+ resolution and 950 nits maximum brightness are typical of what you get on smartphones within the segment. The display provides a decent viewing experience, at least indoors. Outdoors, under direct sunlight, you may face some trouble viewing the content, but it is passable given the price. The handset is Widevine L1-certified, offering content in full HD resolution from streaming platforms.

Cameras

The Realme Narzo 70x features a dual rear camera setup, which consists of a 50MP primary sensor and a 2MP depth sensor. Up front, it features an 8MP snapper in the punch-hole setup for selfies and video calling. The images captured are acceptable for the price in well-lit areas. You will be pleased with the details; however, sharpness and colour calibration might leave something to be desired. Similar to Realme 12x, the Narzo 70x also paints a yellow tint over the images. The portraits captured have a slight warping around the edges of the frame; but again given its price, you couldn’t have asked for more.

Indoors or in low light environments, there is a discernible graininess across the frame, which can somewhat be mitigated by utilising the night mode. The selfie performance of the smartphone is likeable if you don’t mind the overprocessed skin tones. The facial detailing is decent too.

The Vivo T3x, which is priced in a similar ballpark as the Narzo 70x, seems to be doing a better job when it comes to colours. The images captured by the smartphone look brighter and more vibrant than those on its counterpart. However, despite the same 50MP camera setup, the detailing appears a bit underwhelming on the Vivo T3x. In such a scenario, opting for the Realme Narzo 70x would be a better choice.

Performance and software

When it comes to performance, the Realme Narzo 70x relies on MediaTek Dimensity 6100+ SoC. The chipset can be found on quite a few smartphones – a bunch of them being Realme’s. The chipset performs adequately on the benchmarking tests, scoring 4,04,437 on AnTuTu, whereas on Geekbench, it achieved 701 and 1,898 on single-core and multi-core tests respectively. It is worth mentioning that the scores are relatively low compared to the competitors, including Vivo T3x which ships with a Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 SoC.

The real-world performance of the smartphone is mostly smooth, barring a few occasional lags while multitasking. The handset can also run games, including BGMI, COD, and Real Racing 3. We ran these games for 30 minutes each in moderate settings, and the handset reported a roughly 8 percent increase in thermals and a 7 percent drop in battery life. This indicates that the Narzo 70x is more inclined towards regular everyday usage instead of multitasking and gaming.

The Realme Narzo 70x boots Android 14-based Realme UI 5.0 out of the box. It certainly is a feature-rich software that also comes with quite a few customisation options. However, a total of 53 pre-installed apps, including seven third-party ones, make the usage experience cluttered. On the bright side, at least the third-party apps are removable. Moreover, the company has promised two years of major software updates for the smartphone. This is standard in this price range.

Battery and charging

Realme Narzo 70x pc mark battery test

The Realme Narzo 70x is equipped with a 5,000mAh battery, which achieved 14 hours and 19 minutes on the PC Mark battery test. On our YouTube video playback test with 50 percent brightness and volume levels, the handset battery dropped by 5 percent which is acceptable. This suggests the smartphone should provide roughly a day’s backup with moderate usage between charges. The handset supports 45W charging speed, which takes approximately an hour to juice it up fully from 20 to 100 percent.

Final verdict

The Realme Narzo 70x is selling in India starting at Rs 11,999. It is an acceptable price for a smartphone that covers the basics. The handset can manage most day-to-day activities with ease and ensures a smooth display experience. While its cameras may not excel, they are adequate for daylight photography. Furthermore, the design lacks flair. Be that as it may, with its feature-rich software and sizable battery supporting fast charging, the Narzo 70x presents a competitive option in its price segment.
