Redmi K90 Ultra with built-in cooling fan, 8,550mAh battery makes its debut

Redmi K90 Ultra has been launched in China as a new performance-focused phone with a built-in cooling fan. Similar to the Redmi K90 Max, the new K90 Ultra features a built-in cooling fan on the back of the phone. The handset also offers a large display, runs on the Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, and has a massive 8,550mAh battery. For now, there’s no word on the global launch of the Redmi K90 Ultra.

In terms of design, the Redmi K90 Ultra looks quite similar to the K90 Max, with the large camera island on the back housing the sensors and the cooling fan. The entire body is aluminium, giving it a distinct look. Speaking of which, the Redmi K90 Ultra’s cooling fan is said to have noise levels as low as 32dB and is claimed to reduce the temperature up to 10°C in 100 seconds. The cooling fan also comes with IPX8 and IPX9 ratings for dust and water resistance. This should help with heat dissipation during long gaming sessions and intensive work.

The Redmi K90 Ultra comes in three colour options: Shadow Black, Space Silver, and Sky Blue. For durability, the handset comes with IP66, IP68, and IP69 ratings. Although a gaming-focused phone, the Redmi K90 Ultra still looks quite sleek compared to other options from brands like RedGaming and ROG.

The Redmi K90 Ultra features a 6.83-inch 1.5K M10 display with a 165Hz refresh rate and up to 3,500 nits peak brightness. This is a large display with a high refresh rate and resolution, making it a good option for gaming and watching content as well. The handset is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, paired with a D2 discrete graphics chip, LPDDR5X Ultra RAM, and UFS 4.1 flash storage. Although a flagship chipset from 2024, it’s still capable of achieving high performance levels.

The handset packs an 8,850mAh battery with 100W wired and 22.5W reverse wired charging support. This battery capacity should be more than enough to last an entire day on heavy usage and more for light users.

With the Redmi K90 Ultra, you get a 50MP primary camera with OIS + EIS, an 8MP ultra-wide lens, and a 20MP front camera for selfies. The camera setup may not be versatile, but it should still deliver good photos and videos for casual photography and social media.

In China, the Redmi K90 Ultra starts at CNY 2,999, which translates to Rs 41,800 approx for the 12GB + 256GB variant.

The Redmi K90 Ultra is clearly targeted at power users who want a performance-focused phone for intensive use and gaming.
