Xiaomi has confirmed that the Redmi Note 15 Pro series will launch in India on January 29th. This will include the Redmi Note 15 Pro and the Redmi Note 15 Pro+, both of which are already available in China and other markets. If Xiaomi sticks to its usual playbook, the Indian versions should be largely similar, with a few tweaks around pricing or configurations.
Familiar design, stronger build
The Redmi Note 15 Pro series follows the same flat-frame design seen on recent Redmi Note phones. Both models have a large 6.83-inch display on the front and a squircle camera module at the back. The front glass is protected by Gorilla Glass Victus 2, and Xiaomi says the internal frame has been reinforced to improve drop resistance. The company is putting a lot of emphasis on durability this time. The Redmi Note 15 Pro series comes with IP66, IP68, IP69, and IP69K ratings, covering dust protection, water immersion, and resistance to high-pressure water jets.
Globally, the phones are offered in both matte glass and leather-textured finishes, depending on the colour. Some variants use a faux leather back, which should offer better grip and attract fewer fingerprints than glossy glass. The frame has flat sides with slightly rounded edges, though the phones are expected to feel heavy at around 210-220 gms. Colour options vary by market, but include black, blue, and lighter gradient finishes, along with leather-textured options like Cherry Red and Mocha Brown. For India, Xiaomi is expected to offer a mix of safe colours along with one or two standout options.
Both phones are expected to feature a large 6.83-inch 1.5K quad-curved AMOLED display with peak brightness of up to 3,200 nits and a 120Hz refresh rate. That’s bigger and brighter than what the Redmi Note 14 Pro series offered.
A simplified camera setup
Cameras are still a big part of the Redmi Note 15 Pro series, but the setup has been simplified compared to last year. Both the Redmi Note 15 Pro and the Pro+ come with a 200MP main camera with optical image stabilisation, paired with an 8MP ultra-wide camera. Unlike the Redmi Note 14 Pro series, which also included a 2MP macro camera, the Note 15 Pro series drops the macro lens altogether. However, we do see a third cutout on the back besides the LED flash, which we’re guessing could be a very basic depth sensor, but Xiaomi hasn’t mentioned it on their spec sheet. In practical terms, this means Xiaomi is putting all its focus on the main camera rather than spreading things across three rear sensors. The 200MP camera is meant to offer more flexibility for cropping and digital zoom, while the ultra-wide handles group shots and landscapes. Video recording from the rear cameras tops out at 4K at 30fps, with 1080p recording available at up to 60fps, which is standard for this segment.
The difference between the two models shows up on the front. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ uses a 32MP selfie camera, while the regular Redmi Note 15 Pro comes with a 20MP front camera. Both support 1080p video recording and are aimed at everyday use rather than creator-focused shooting.
All-day battery life
The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ will pack a 6,500mAh battery with 100W fast charging and support for reverse charging. Compared to the 6,200mAh battery on the Redmi Note 14 Pro+, the jump isn’t huge, but it should make the phone easier to get through a full day without worrying about topping up. Xiaomi is also claiming better long-term battery health, which matters more as people hold on to phones for longer. Interestingly, the Note 15 Pro model is said to have a slightly larger 6,580mAh battery, but slower 45W charging.
All-round performance
Performance is expected to be solid, but not headline-grabbing. Xiaomi has confirmed the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset for the series, expected to power the Pro+ model. It should handle everyday use and gaming just fine, but it’s not aimed at buyers chasing top-end performance. Xiaomi is including IceLoop cooling to keep temperatures in check during longer sessions, which should help with consistency. Meanwhile, the regular Redmi Note 15 Pro is expected to use a MediaTek Dimensity 7400 Ultra processor. RAM options are said to go up to 24GB with virtual RAM included, though in real-world use, most people won’t notice much difference beyond a certain point.
Software-wise, Xiaomi is adding AI tools like AI Writing, AI Speech Recognition, and AI Interpreter. These features are becoming common across Android phones and are good add-ons rather than must-haves.
Will the price hike be justified?
Pricing will likely play a decisive role in how the Redmi Note 15 Pro series is received. In addition to earlier leaks, tipster Sanju Choudhary on X has shared the leaked India pricing ahead of launch. According to the leak, the Redmi Note 15 Pro could start at Rs 30,999 for the 8GB RAM and 128GB storage variant, going up to Rs 32,999 for the 8GB + 256GB option. The Redmi Note 15 Pro+ is tipped to start at Rs 38,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model, with higher variants priced at Rs 40,999 for 12GB + 256GB and Rs 44,999 for 12GB + 512GB.
If these prices hold, the Redmi Note 15 Pro series would sit noticeably above the Redmi Note 14 Pro lineup, which launched with aggressive pricing closer to the Rs 25,000–Rs 30,000 range. Xiaomi is expected to soften the jump with pre-booking benefits, including a one-year free screen replacement and a bundled Redmi Watch Move.
The regular Note 15 Pro should suit users coming from older Redmi Note phones who want a larger display, better durability, and dependable battery life without moving into flagship pricing. The Pro+ adds faster charging and a better front camera, which may matter to some users, though the overall performance difference between the two isn’t dramatic. At the leaked prices, buyers who prioritise cameras, build quality, and longevity may find the series appealing, while those focused on raw performance or maximum value may want to compare alternatives or wait to see how pricing and offers settle after launch.
