Redmi Note 17 Pro, Pro Max India launch tipped for September 15th with substantial price hike
Redmi could bring two new Note-series Pro phones to India on September 15th, with the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Note 17 Pro Max expected to launch in the country with batteries up to 10,000mAh. The launch date comes from tipster Yogesh Brar, who also claims the new models could cost Rs 5,000 – Rs 8,000 more than their Redmi Note 15 Pro series counterparts.
The timing puts the phones in the middle of a busy September, when Apple’s iPhone 18 series is also expected to draw attention. Redmi hasn’t officially announced the India launch yet, neither have they started teasing the phone.

Redmi Note 17 Pro, Pro Max India price
According to Brar, the Redmi Note 17 Pro and Pro Max will launch in India on September 15th. The Note 17 Pro has already launched in China, starting at CNY 1,599 (around Rs 23,000), while the Pro Max is yet to launch in China and will make its global debut in Malaysia on August 27th. The Redmi Note 17 already launched in India in August.
A Rs 5,000 – Rs 8,000 increase, as tipped, over the previous generation would put the new phones above the Redmi Note 15 Pro, which launched at Rs 31,999, and Note 15 Pro+, which started at Rs 37,999. That could push the Note 17 Pro Max into a price bracket with the likes of the OnePlus Nord 6, Nothing Phone (4a) and Vivo V70 FE. Notably the Note Pro models would typically start under Rs 25,000 in earlier generations but that value proposition seems to have been long left behind.
The price increase comes as smartphone brands deal with higher memory and component costs. However, there is no confirmation that these factors are directly responsible for Redmi’s expected pricing.
Specifications
The Redmi Note 17 Pro that has launched in China has a 6.83-inch 1.5K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 3,500 nits brightness. It’s powered by the Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 and packs a 9,000mAh battery with 67W charging. Other reported specifications include up to 12GB RAM, 512GB storage and a 50MP main camera. The phone also has IP66, IP68, IP69 and IP69K ratings.
The Note 17 Pro Max moves to a 10,000mAh battery with 100W charging, while retaining a 6.83-inch 1.5K AMOLED display. It’s powered by the newer Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 and can reportedly be configured with up to 12GB RAM. The phone is also expected to have a 50MP primary camera and up to IP69K protection.
On paper, the battery upgrade is substantial compared with the Note 15 Pro and Pro+, made possible by the advent of Si-C tech in the industry. The previous Pro models offered 6,580mAh and 6,500mAh batteries respectively, while the Pro+ paired its battery with 100W charging and a Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset. The processor choice on the Pro Max will need closer scrutiny, though. Despite being newer, Snapdragon 6 Gen 5 sits below Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 family, while the Note 15 Pro+ used Snapdragon 7s Gen 4. Buyers upgrading for performance should therefore wait for benchmarks rather than assume the newer model is automatically faster.
The large batteries and displays could make the Note 17 Pro models attractive for users who prioritise endurance and media consumption. But with a potential Rs 5,000 – Rs 8,000 price increase, buyers should compare real-world performance, charging speeds and cameras against rivals before choosing the new Redmi phones.
