Samsung Galaxy A07 5G launches in India with a 6,000mAh battery, 120Hz display, and 6 years of software updates
Samsung has launched a new budget 5G phone in India, the Galaxy A07. It’s part of the Galaxy A-series, through which Samsung caters to the mid-range and budget segments. The Galaxy A07 5G is also the most affordable model in the series, succeeding the Galaxy A06 5G, and has been launched at a starting price of Rs 15,999. The smartphone offers a bigger battery, the latest One UI 8.0 update, and longer software updates, compared to its predecessor.
The highlight of the Galaxy A07 5G seems to be its 6,000mAh battery, which is interestingly bigger than even Samsung’s flagship series. It’s also 20 percent larger than the Galaxy A06’s 5,000mAh cell. The smartphone comes with 25W fast charging support. This setup is quite decent for the segment but some phones offer 7,000mAh battery like the Moto G57 Power, and faster charging too. The Galaxy A07 5G should still run comfortably for an entire and Samsung also claims that the phone is optimised to ensure “uninterrupted performance for both work and entertainment.”

For optics, you get a 50MP autofocus wide camera and a 2MP secondary camera for depth perception. Up front is an 8MP selfie camera on the Galaxy A07 5G. This is the same camera setup as the Galaxy A06. Samsung says that the Galaxy A07’s cameras are fine-tuned for vibrant colours and crisp details, and also for capturing photos in bright and low-light conditions. Camera performance is something we can figure out only when we test the phone, but going just by specs, alternatives like the Lava Play Ultra offer a better setup.
Up front is a 6.7-inch HD+ display with a 120Hz refresh rate and 800 nits peak brightness. This is mostly the same as the Galaxy A06’s display, but with a higher refresh rate from 90Hz, ensuring a smoother scrolling experience. The smartphone is also IP54 certified for dust and water resistance, same as the A06. It’s a decent rating for the segment, but some phones offer IP64 too.
The Galaxy A07 5G runs One UI 8.0 with Android 16 out of the box. The smartphone is also getting six years of OS upgrades and security updates, which is the longest you can get in this segment. So, the Galaxy A07 is future-proof when it comes to long-term software support. It also comes with propriety features that may help in everyday usage. These include biometric authentication for UPI payments via Samsung Wallet powered by Samsung Knox Vault, a hardware-backed solution. There’s an Auto Blocker feature that prevents the installation of apps from potential security threats, and a built-in theft protection in case of device loss.
Samsung hasn’t revealed which chipset is used by the Galaxy A07 but the global version uses the MediaTek Dimensity 6300. This chipset should be good enough for regular use but intensive tasks may slow it down.
The Galaxy A07 5G starts at Rs 15,999 for the base model with 4GB RAM and 128GB storage. It comes with 6GB RAM and 128GB storage, which costs Rs 17,999. The smartphone comes in Light Violet, Light Green, and Black colours, and it’s available to purchase with a cashback of Rs 1,000.
Overall, the Galaxy A07 doesn’t push too much with its hardware. It offers a balanced set of specifications in key areas with more focus on the software aspect. In comparison with rivals, you’re better off buying phones like the Lava Play Ultra for a bigger battery, better display, and cameras. But if you want a phone that’s good enough for day-to-day usage and a reliable software experience, then the Galaxy A07 can be recommended.
