Samsung’s next affordable Galaxy A-series smartphone appears to be one step closer to launch. The upcoming Samsung Galaxy A08 4G has been spotted on the Wi-Fi Alliance certification website with the model number SM-A085F/DS, indicating that the device is nearing its official debut.
The latest certification comes after the smartphone appeared on the GSMA database in April, which confirmed both its model number and the Galaxy A08 branding. While neither listing reveals any hardware specifications, they suggest Samsung has started the certification process required before launch.
The Galaxy A08 will succeed last year’s Galaxy A07 4G in Samsung’s entry-level portfolio. Given that the Galaxy A07 debuted in August 2025, Samsung is likely to stick to its annual refresh cycle, pointing to a possible August 2026 launch for its successor.
At the moment, Samsung has not shared any details about the Galaxy A08’s specifications. The Wi-Fi certification only confirms support for Wi-Fi connectivity and the model number, leaving the rest of the hardware a mystery. The certification listings suggest Samsung is moving closer to announcing the phone, with more details likely to emerge through additional certifications and leaks over the coming weeks.
While the Galaxy A08’s specifications remain under wraps, its predecessor offers a good indication of what buyers can expect. The Galaxy A07 launched in India at a starting price of Rs 8,999 for the 4GB + 64GB variant. It features a 6.74-inch HD+ 90Hz display, MediaTek Helio G99 chipset, 50MP dual rear cameras, an 8MP selfie camera, a 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging, IP54 dust and splash resistance, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner. Samsung also promises six generations of Android OS upgrades and six years of security updates, making it one of the strongest software support commitments in the budget segment.
For the Galaxy A08, buyers will likely be hoping for upgrades such as a newer processor, improved cameras or a larger battery while retaining Samsung’s long-term software support. If the company manages to keep pricing close to the Galaxy A07’s launch price (which is now available above Rs 10,000), the Galaxy A08 could emerge as a compelling option for buyers seeking a dependable budget smartphone. The Galaxy A08 is expected to target the sub-Rs 15,000 segment now, considering the recent rising prices, where it will compete with offerings from Redmi, POCO, Lava and Motorola.
