Samsung Galaxy S26 series camera upgrades highlighted in latest teaser videos

Highlights
  • Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra is tipped to get a quad-camera setup like the previous model.
  • The Galaxy S26 and S26+ may get upgraded 12MP telephoto cameras.
  • The Galaxy S26 series may launch globally on February 25th.

Samsung has started teasing its flagship series, the Galaxy S26, ahead of its expected launch later this month. There are three new teaser videos shared by Samsung on what to expect from the Galaxy S26 series’ cameras. The phone’s names aren’t mentioned, but it’s quite clear that the teasers are for Samsung’s next flagship lineup, which is expected to launch with three models: Galaxy S26, Galaxy S26+, and Galaxy S26 Ultra.

All three teaser videos show a silhouette of the camera island, including three sensors vertically stacked. The outgoing Galaxy S25 series features the same design, suggesting no major change in this regard. And that’s not bad at all. Coming to the features highlighted, the Galaxy S26 series will focus on low-light photography, with one teaser showing a dimly lit background turning bright while recording it. Another teaser shows a similar scenario where the background has been lit up. The third teaser is a clear indication of the Galaxy S26 series’ zoom capabilities. This is already popular with the Ultra models from the brand’s flagship lineup.

These teasers hint at camera upgrades we can expect from the Galaxy S26 series and not just from their hardware, but under-the-hood improvements too. In terms of specs, leaks suggest the Galaxy S26 Ultra is rumoured to feature an enhanced 200MP primary camera, a 50MP periscope telephoto with 5x optical zoom, a 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom, and a 50MP ultra-wide. The selfie camera will most likely continue to be a 12MP sensor. The camera specs are largely the same as the Galaxy S25 Ultra, but we can expect software upgrades or better sensors.

The standard Galaxy S26 and Galaxy S26+ are tipped to get an upgraded 12MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. This would be an upgrade over the 10MP telephoto on the S25 and S25+, which would mean better details for zoom shots and portraits.

Based on Samsung’s teasers, the Galaxy S26 series appears set to bring meaningful camera upgrades, even if early leaks don’t fully reflect the same. As Samsung’s most premium and expensive smartphones, notable under-the-hood improvements are to be expected. Samsung is known for its industry-leading AI features, and this is something we’ll get to see a lot more of with the upcoming flagship series. Competition is also tough in the premium flagship segment, especially with OPPO, Vivo, and Xiaomi offering one of the best cameras along with accessories to further enhance the experience.

With anticipation already building around the Galaxy S26 lineup, it could be a worthwhile wait for buyers planning a flagship upgrade, especially those coming from older Galaxy models.
