Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S27 has received certification from India’s Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), indicating that the company is preparing its next compact flagship for the Indian market. This comes after the device appeared on China’s 3C certification platform, while an earlier NBD listing revealed some of its expected specifications.

Samsung Galaxy S27 India launch details

The BIS database lists (via) a Samsung smartphone carrying the model number SM-S952B/DS. This is believed to be the standard Galaxy S27. While the Indian certification doesn’t reveal any hardware details or link the moniker to the model name, it’s an indication that the device is being prepared for a local launch.

Samsung typically introduces its Galaxy S series in January or February. Following this annual launch cycle, the Galaxy S27 lineup is expected to debut early next year across multiple markets, including India. The BIS approval could be followed by certifications for the other rumoured models, including the Galaxy S27+, S27 Pro and S27 Ultra.

For context, the Galaxy S26 launched in India at Rs 87,999 for the 12GB + 256GB storage variant. Samsung hasn’t revealed the S27’s launch date yet.

Samsung Galaxy S27 specifications (leaked)

According to an earlier NBD database listing, the Galaxy S27 could feature a 6.3-inch AMOLED display, an Exynos 2700 chipset, 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Its appearance on China’s 3C certification platform reportedly points to 25W wired charging, the same rating as the Galaxy S26. The phone is also tipped to feature a 50MP primary camera using a Sony sensor, potentially replacing the ISOCELL sensor on its predecessor. The rest of the rear camera setup could include a 12MP ultrawide and a 10MP telephoto camera, while a 12MP front camera is expected.

The Galaxy S26 already offers a 6.3-inch 120Hz Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, an Exynos 2600 chipset in India, and a 50MP main camera with OIS alongside a 12MP ultrawide and 10MP telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. The reported specifications suggest that Samsung could retain much of the existing hardware configuration while introducing a newer chipset and a different primary camera sensor. Those planning to buy the compact Samsung flagship, could wait for the S27’s official specifications and pricing before making a decision.
