Samsung has officially expanded its tracking ecosystem with the launch of the Galaxy SmartTag3, which features a complete redesign, extended range, and cross-platform support. The headline addition is iOS compatibility via SmartThings Find, allowing iPhone users to view location data and share tags across multi-platform households for the first time.

The Galaxy SmartTag3 shifts away from its predecessor’s form factor, which debuted three years ago, coming in 35 percent smaller by volume and 33 percent lighter. The new tracker features a reinforced built-in loop, letting users clip it directly onto keyrings, luggage, or pet collars without extra housing. With a user-replaceable coin cell battery in tow, the Galaxy SmartTag3 is built to last up to 550 days during standard use and up to 790 days in Power Saving Mode.
The Galaxy SmartTag3 is IP67-rated and will be available in white and black colourways. Samsung will also offer multiple coloured cases for the tag. Under the hood, the SmartTag3 combines Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology with Bluetooth 6.0 Channel Sounding. This pairing drives the upgraded Compass View, providing on-screen directional arrows and distance markers on compatible devices up to 60 meters (200 feet) away, which is three times more than the direct-guided tracking range of previous models.
For items lost outside local Bluetooth range, the tracker hooks into the SmartThings Find Network, leveraging hundreds of millions of opted-in Galaxy devices worldwide to relay encrypted location updates.
Coming to one of the most major upgrades, iPhone users with the SmartTag 3 will be able to access location views and share tag access via the SmartThings Find app. Key features include Place Notifications, which alert users proactively whenever a tagged item enters or leaves designated geofenced boundaries. The tracker can store location data for a rolling week so users can trace past movements, while the physical button on the tag can be customised to trigger SmartThings automation routines, such as turning off lights or running scenes. There’s also Left Behind Alert, which can notify users when their mobile device loses connection with a tagged item.
As of now, Samsung hasn’t announced the pricing of the Galaxy SmartTag 3. What’s known is that the tracker will be first up for grabs in Korea starting October 7th, 2026, with the US release scheduled right after. The Galaxy SmartTag 3 will launch in other markets globally in 2027. Given that the SmartTag 2 was launched in 2023 for Rs 2,799 and USD 27 in the US, its successor could come with a similar price tag, say Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500, considering the longer battery life and additional features.
If you’ve been longing to get a tracker for your precious items, such as phones, bags, purses, and others, it could be worth waiting for Samsung Galaxy SmartTag 3’s India launch. A single Apple AirTag costs Rs 3,790, and if the SmartTag 3 launches at a lower price, it could be a solid alternative since it also supports iOS devices.
