Samsung has launched the Galaxy Tab S12 series, comprising the Tab S12 Ultra and Tab S12+, with a newer processor, expanded Galaxy AI features and updated software. Both tablets come with an S Pen and target users who need a large screen for work, studying and creative tasks. The launch follows the Galaxy Tab S11 series, which was launched at Rs 74,999 in India and offered a 14.6-inch display on the Ultra model.
Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra features a 14.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, while the Tab S12+ has a 12.6-inch panel. Both support a 120Hz refresh rate and up to 1,600 nits peak brightness. The tablets use MediaTek’s 3nm Dimensity 9500 chipset. Samsung claims up to 19 percent faster CPU performance, 17 percent better GPU performance and 61 percent faster NPU processing compared with the Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra.
The Ultra packs an 11,600mAh battery, while the Plus gets a 10,600mAh unit. Samsung claims up to 23 hours of battery life on the Ultra and 21 hours on the Plus. Both support 45W charging, IP68-rated water and dust resistance, quad speakers and microSD expansion up to 2TB.
The tablets run Android 17-based One UI 9 and include Galaxy AI features such as note summaries, three-way split-screen multitasking and Gemini integration. Adobe Photoshop comes preloaded, with S Pen support for image editing and design work.
Compared with the Tab S11 Ultra, the S12 Ultra retains the same 14.6-inch display, 11,600mAh battery and 45W charging. The main changes are the newer chipset, updated software and expanded AI tools. The Tab S12+ also has a larger 12.6-inch display than the standard Tab S11’s 11-inch panel, giving users more room for multitasking.
India availability
Samsung hasn’t announced Indian pricing or availability for the Galaxy Tab S12 series. The Tab S12 Ultra with 256GB storage has appeared on Samsung’s official India website, indicating an imminent launch.
The Galaxy Tab S11 started at Rs 74,999 for the Wi-Fi model with 128GB storage, while the Tab S11 Ultra Wi-Fi variant with 256GB storage launched at Rs 1,24,999. The Ultra’s 512GB Wi-Fi model was priced at Rs 1,41,999, with the 512GB 5G version costing Rs 1,55,999. These prices offer a reference for the S12 series, although its final Indian pricing remains unknown.
The Tab S12 Ultra is aimed at users who need a large workspace for creative work and multitasking, while the S12+ offers a smaller alternative. The series brings together flagship processing power, large 120Hz AMOLED displays and expanded Galaxy AI features for users who want a versatile device for work and creativity.
