Apple unveils Siri AI: a smarter, more conversational assistant powered by Apple Intelligence
Apple officially introduced Siri, possibly its biggest overhaul of Siri. Built on the next generation of Apple Intelligence, Siri AI is designed to be more conversational, context-aware, and capable of handling complex tasks across Apple’s ecosystem. The revamped Siri was unveiled at WWDC 2026. Siri AI is available for developer testing now and will launch in beta for users later this year.
Siri AI: What’s different?
Unlike the current Siri, which is often limited to simple commands and web searches, Siri AI can understand personal context from messages, emails, photos, and other content stored on the device. For example, users can ask Siri to find a restaurant recommendation shared by a friend, locate a hotel booking from an old email, or pull up photos from a recent trip.

Siri AI also gains onscreen awareness, allowing it to understand and respond to content currently displayed on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. It can answer questions about what users are viewing and perform actions across apps, such as drafting emails, editing photos, or adding information to Notes.
Apple is also introducing a dedicated Siri app that stores conversation history across devices through iCloud, making it easier to continue conversations between iPhone, iPad, Mac, Apple Watch, and Vision Pro. Additional upgrades include improved dictation, more natural voices, integrated writing tools, and expanded Visual Intelligence features that can analyse images, screenshots, and even real-world objects through the camera.
The announcement comes as Apple looks to catch up with AI assistants such as Google’s Gemini and OpenAI’s ChatGPT. While competitors have focused on cloud-based AI, Apple is placing significant emphasis on privacy, with much of Siri AI’s processing happening on-device or through its Private Cloud Compute infrastructure.
Apple has been slightly late in the AI race compared to Google’s Gemini, but it looks determined with Siri AI. Also, with Apple’s ecosystem, users will finally have it easier to navigate and complete tasks without having to rely on a third-party application. Siri AI could become a strong reason to upgrade, particularly for users already invested in the Apple ecosystem. However, many of the advanced features will require supported Apple Intelligence-compatible devices, so buyers should verify compatibility before making a purchase decision.
