Tecno POVA Curve 2 launched in India with a massive 8,000mAh battery, 144Hz display and the Dimensity 7100 SoC

Bigger batteries seem to be the trend this year, with newer phones packing insanely power-dense cells into a regular smartphone body. Not too long ago, we saw the Realme P4 Power (review), a power bank more than a smartphone, with a massive 10,001mAh cell, and now we have the new Tecno POVA Curve 2, whose headlining feature is its 8,000mAh battery.

Compared to its predecessor from last year, it’s actually slightly thinner at 7.42mm, which is exceptional given the battery has grown by roughly 30 percent. Let’s take a detailed look at what the device brings to the table, its pricing, and all you need to know about the phone.

The Tecno POVA Curve 2 comes in two variants: an 8GB + 128GB variant priced at Rs 27,999 and an 8GB + 256GB variant that retails for Rs 29,999. With bank cashback offers, you can get up to an Rs 3,000 discount on both variants. Sales will officially begin on 20th February at 12PM on Flipkart.

Let’s first talk about the battery itself. The phone’s 8,000mAh battery currently sits second only to the Realme P4 Power in India, but Tecno does a few things better. The P4 Power measures around 9.2mm thick, while the Tecno POVA Curve 2 comes in at about 7.42mm, thinner than quite a few regular smartphones too. On top of that, it weighs about 195 grams, which makes it easy to carry around.

In terms of design, it carries over Tecno’s DNA of making cool phones. It has a slightly edgy gamer design with a triangular camera island and an orange-accented power button. The phone comes in three colour variants: Storm Titanium, Melting Silver, Mystic Purple.

With an 8,000mAh cell, you can comfortably expect up to 2 days of battery life on a single charge, and more depending on your usage patterns. With 45W fast charging support, the phone should recharge in a reasonable amount of time as well, although it’ll likely take longer than an hour on average.

On the camera front, you get a 50MP primary lens with a 2MP depth sensor, while the selfie camera uses a 13MP lens. This is a slight downgrade compared to the 64MP camera on its predecessor. We’ll discuss its actual camera performance in the detailed review, so stay tuned for that.
