Samsung is planning to introduce Micro LED displays on their upcoming Galaxy smartwatches. Read on to know more.
As per a recent rumour, the tech giant is likely preparing to introduce a 'Galaxy Watch Ultra' model, similar to the Apple Watch Ultra. This might mark Samsung's debut in using a Micro LED screen on their smartwatch. Meanwhile, there are also rumours circulating that Apple is developing a new version of the Apple Watch Ultra, which would also feature a Micro LED panel.
It should be noted that the company has not yet revealed any details about the rumoured Galaxy Watch Ultra. However, Samsung recently launched a Micro LED TV that is priced at nearly a whopping Rs 1.15 crore for the Indian market.
Micro LED is a type of display where incredibly tiny LEDs, smaller than 100 micrometres (㎛) – thinner than a strand of hair – emit light and colours independently, without the need for a backlight or colour filter.
As per the company, the LED elements in Samsung Electronics' Micro LED are notably smaller, measuring less than 50㎛, which is just 10 per cent of the size of the LED elements in typical high-resolution B2B products.
Furthermore, the RGB (Red, Green, Blue) elements used in Micro LED are constructed from inorganic materials, eliminating the burn-in problem and allowing them to maintain high brightness and image quality for more than 100,000 hours without issues.
Samsung said that Micro LED is the only display in the world that allows users to enjoy picture quality without any light loss with an RGB self-luminous structure without a colour filter.
The company also mentioned that it is a top-quality display that provides an immersive experience for enjoying various content like movies, sports, and documentaries. Especially in the case of the ultra-large size of 114-inch, it provides a sense of presence that makes it difficult to distinguish between reality and the screen.
