Vivo S60 series surfaces on China Telecom ahead of launch
With Vivo’s S60 series launch now just days away, both upcoming models have appeared on the China Telecom website, revealing nearly everything from the chipsets and cameras to storage variants, colours, and even a possible sale date. The listings cover the standard Vivo S60 and the Vivo S60 Vitality Edition ahead of their official debut in China on May 29th.
Key features and specifications
The standard Vivo S60 with model number V2571A is listed with a 6.59-inch display and Qualcomm hardware identified by the codename SM8635. That chipset is widely believed to be the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, which had also shown up earlier on Geekbench. What stands out here is that Vivo may once again be using the same Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chip found in the Vivo S50.

This is a strategy being employed by almost all Android OEMs this year, using the same processor but shifting the focus towards battery life, cooling, camera consistency, and thinner designs. It also works as a cost-effective strategy, though brands are still hiking prices for the same specs that were cheaper a year ago.
According to the China Telecom listing (via), the Vivo S60 will run Android 16 and pack a 7,200mAh battery inside a body measuring 7.92 mm thick and weighing 207 gms. That battery capacity would have sounded impressive in a slim mid-range phone a couple of years ago, but it’s now the new normal in the Android smartphone market.
On the camera front, the Vivo S60 is listed with dual 50MP rear cameras alongside an 8MP third sensor, while the front gets a 50MP selfie camera. Vivo has built the S-series around portrait photography and front-camera performance, especially for younger users and creator buyers, so that part remains largely unchanged. The phone is expected in four variants: 8GB + 256GB, 12GB + 256GB, 12GB + 512GB, and 16GB + 512GB.
The Vivo S60 Vitality Edition, listed with model number V2572A, shares most of the same hardware, including the display size, battery, dimensions, and software. The biggest change is the processor. This model uses a MediaTek chipset carrying the codename MT6881, rumoured to be the upcoming Dimensity 7500 chipset. Interestingly, the same processor is also expected to power the Redmi Note 17 Pro Max. The Vitality Edition also drops one of the rear 50MP cameras and starts lower with an 8GB + 128GB storage option. It’s slightly lighter too, at 199 gms.
Both phones are listed in Starry Sea, Early Summer Green, and Midsummer Night colour options. The China Telecom database additionally mentions June 3rd as the release date, which is likely the expected open sales date in China after the launch event.
India launch
Vivo has only confirmed the S60 series for China, but history suggests the standard Vivo S60 could eventually arrive in India and other global markets as the Vivo V80. Vivo has followed a similar strategy with earlier V-series launches, where S-series hardware from China gets reworked slightly for international markets.
Buyers who care about battery life, cameras, and overall day-to-day experience than raw gaming performance may find the Vivo S60 lineup more appealing than some aggressively tuned rivals in the same segment. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 should still be powerful enough for most users. The Vitality Edition, meanwhile, looks made for buyers who want a similar design and battery setup at a lower expected price, with a slightly toned-down camera system.
