Vivo has officially scheduled May 29th as the launch date for its upcoming Vivo S60 series in China. The company is already teasing a strong focus on photography, premium design, and multimedia features for the upcoming Vivo S60 lineup. The new lineup is expected to launch in India too, but under a different branding strategy. The Vivo S60 series is expected to include at least two smartphones: the Vivo S60 and Vivo S60e. Rumours had also pointed toward a Vivo S60 Pro Mini model, though Vivo has not mentioned the device yet. It remains unclear whether the company plans to unveil it later or if development plans have changed entirely.

Vivo S60 series: what to expect

Design appears to be one of the major talking points this year. Vivo says the S60 series introduces a new silver-white colour finish inspired by reflections on the summer sea. According to the company, the rear panel creates shifting light patterns depending on viewing angles, continuing Vivo’s recent trend of pushing visually distinctive finishes in its mid-premium smartphones. Interestingly, the Vivo S60’s design also looks quite similar to the camera plateau on the iPhone 17 Pro series.

The camera experience also seems to be getting a significant upgrade. Vivo is heavily promoting a new Live Photo system, claiming the S60 series will offer one of the best Live imaging experiences currently available in the industry. The phones are confirmed to support direct 4K Live Photo output, with Vivo claiming improvements in memory management, thermal control, and overall processing efficiency to overcome common issues associated with high-resolution live capture.

Another new addition is the ‘Starlight Live’ feature, which automatically detects bright highlights within scenes and adjusts lighting effects to make photos and videos appear more dramatic and visually appealing. The feature appears aimed at users who frequently shoot nightlife content, concerts, or social media videos where lighting plays a major role in the final look. Camera hardware may include a Sony IMX8-series periscope telephoto sensor, potentially giving the Vivo S60 an edge in zoom photography.

Vivo S60 series specifications (expected)

Leaks surrounding the standard Vivo S60 suggest that the phone may feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with 1.5K resolution support. This would make the V60 a slightly compact phone, similar to the V70 series. One of the biggest reported upgrades could be the battery, with the device tipped to house a massive 7,200mAh cell alongside 90W fast charging support. If accurate, this would place the Vivo S60 among smartphones offering large batteries in its segment. The smartphone is also rumoured to pack Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 chipset, which suggests capable mid-range performance.

Based on what we know so far, the Vivo S60 series could become particularly attractive for users who value cameras, battery endurance and sleek design over hardcore gaming specifications. However, final pricing will ultimately determine how aggressively the S60 series competes against devices from rival brands like OPPO, which is also launching the competing Reno 16 series soon. If you’ve been on the lookout for a premium-looking Vivo phone with reliable cameras, then the S60 series could be worth waiting for. But you should still wait for reviews to see if there are significant upgrades over the current S50 series.
