The Vivo V70 FE is the most affordable smartphone in the company’s V70 lineup yet. The handset is positioned below the Vivo V70 (review), which is priced in India at Rs 45,999 for the base variant. To make the Vivo V70 FE more affordable than its elder sibling, some corners have been cut, and those are exactly what we are going to address here. Are the compromises significant, or can you opt for the V70 FE and save money without missing out? Let’s find out in this specs-based comparison, which focuses on what’s on paper.

Design
Vivo has reworked the design for the V70 FE smartphone. Instead of the squarish camera module, the handset features an elongated pill-shaped deco – housing a couple of camera rings and Aura ring light vertically. The Vivo V70 FE comes in Northern Light Purple, which changes shade and introduces a pattern on the back in dark, and Monsoon Blue colour options. The options are different from the Vivo V70 Passion Red and Lemon Yellow colourways.

Furthermore, the standard V70 is slightly compact compared to the Fashion Edition variant. The handset measures 157.52 x 74.33 x 7.59mm in dimensions and weighs 190 grams. This could be attributed to its lightweight aerospace aluminium alloy frame, which also offers a premium in-hand feel. The Vivo V70 FE, on the other hand, boasts a plastic unibody design, which measures 163.7 x 76.2 x 7.6mm and weighs around 200 grams. If you want your smartphone to glow in the dark, the Vivo V70 FE should be your choice. But, those looking for a more premium in-hand feel, the Vivo V70 is the one to go.

Beyond that, you get flat edges on both devices, with IP68 and IP69 ratings, a USB Type-C port at the bottom edge and stereo speakers. There is a dedicated speaker grille on the top edge of the Vivo V70 FE, which should sound fuller compared to the earpiece speaker on the Vivo V70.
Display
The Vivo V70 FE gets you more screen real estate with its 6.83-inch AMOLED display that bears 1.5k resolution, 120Hz refresh rate, HDR10+ support, and up to 1,900 nits HBM brightness. The handset features a punch-hole setup for the selfie camera and razor-thin bezels, similar to the Vivo V70, which sports a 6.59-inch AMOLED display. It comes with identical resolution, refresh rate, HDR support, and brightness level as the Vivo V70 FE’s display.

You can’t go wrong with either smartphone when it comes to the viewing experience. However, if you want a faster in-display fingerprint scanner that’s conveniently positioned where your thumb naturally rests, you might lean towards the Vivo V70. It features an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, as opposed to the standard optical sensor on the Vivo V70 FE, which takes a fraction of a second longer to unlock and requires slight finger adjustments due to its lower placement on the screen.
Battery
Both the Vivo V70 and V70 FE are big-battery phones. However, the slightly taller dimensions of the FE allow it to pack an extra 500mAh. The handset houses a 7,000mAh battery, whereas the Vivo V70 comes with a 6,500mAh unit. In the PCMark battery test, the Vivo V70 FE lasts about an hour longer than its sibling, but stay tuned for the full review to see how it performs in real-world usage.

The smartphones support a 90W FlashCharge wired charging solution, and a compatible charger is provided with them. Additionally, you get reverse wired charging and bypass charging support with both the Vivo V70 and V70 FE.
Cameras
Cameras are where you will find major differences between the Vivo V70 and V70 FE. The Vivo V70 ships with Zeiss lenses, with a 50MP OIS 1.6cm main camera, 8MP ultrawide lens, and a 50MP OIS 1.3cm large 3x telephoto lens. The front camera is also a 50MP Zeiss lens for selfies and video calling.

The Vivo V70 FE, on the other hand, skips Zeiss branding altogether, simplifies the rear camera setup, and even tweaks the sensors. The handset features a dual rear camera system, comprising a 200MP OIS primary sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide lens. The larger primary sensor should help the smartphone capture more light and detail, resulting in brighter, sharper images, compared to a 50MP sensor. That said, stay tuned for the full review to assess its real-world performance. Up front, it replaces the 50MP camera with a 50MP shooter for selfies and video calls.
Performance

The Vivo V70 FE is powered by the MediaTek Dimensity 7340 Turbo SoC, while the Vivo V70 is equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 7 Gen 4 under the hood. Benchmark tests, including AnTuTu and Geekbench, suggest that the Vivo V70 is the more powerful option, whether it’s handling demanding tasks, multitasking, or app launch times. But, as seen with the Vivo V60e, which also runs on the Dimensity 7340 Turbo, the V70 FE should be able to manage everyday tasks with ease, if not prolonged gaming and multitasking.

Both smartphones ship with up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage onboard. However, the Vivo V70 will offer relatively faster data transfer speeds, thanks to the superior UFS 4.1 storage.
Software
The software experience will remain similar on both smartphones, with Origin OS 6 layered atop Android 16 out of the box. Furthermore, the Vivo V70 FE and V70 will stay relevant till 2032 with six years of security updates and four major software upgrades in between.
Price and availability
The Vivo V70 FE comes with a sticker price of Rs 37,999 for the base 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant. The higher 8GB+256GB and 12GB+256GB variants are priced at Rs 40,999 and Rs 44,999. The handset will be available for sale from April 9th onwards via Flipkart, Amazon, and other partnered outlets.
The Vivo V70 can be fetched right now across India, and there are only two options to choose from. The base 8GB RAM + 256GB storage is priced at Rs 45,999, while the top-end 12GB RAM + 256GB storage retails at Rs 49,999.
