Vivo’s V70 series is a few days away from its February 19th launch, but pricing may already be out in the open. Tipster Abhishek Yadav has shared what he claims are the India prices for both the Vivo V70 and the new V70 Elite.
According to the leak, the Vivo V70 could be priced at Rs 45,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model and Rs 49,999 for the 12GB + 256GB variant. The V70 Elite may start at Rs 51,999 for the 8GB + 256GB model, while the 12GB + 256GB model may cost Rs 56,999, and the 12GB + 512GB variant could be priced at Rs 61,999. Pre-bookings are said to run from February 12th to 24th, with sales beginning February 25th.
On paper, that places the V70 in the upper mid-range category with phones that promise near-flagship performance. Hence, Vivo is upping the ante with the processor this year. Vivo has confirmed that the V70 Elite will use the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, marking the first time a V-series phone moves to an 8-series chip. The regular V70 is expected to run on the Snapdragon 7 Gen 4, which is the same as last year’s Vivo V60.
For a series that has typically prioritised portraits and design, this is a notable shift in strategy. Past V-series phones were often praised for cameras but questioned on power at the asking prices. The Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 is not Qualcomm’s top chip, but it’s much closer to flagship territory than what earlier V models offered. We have already seen it deliver steady performance in phones like the OnePlus Nord 5 and iQOO Neo 10R. A recent Geekbench listing for the V70 Elite, identified as model number V2548, showed scores of 1,973 in single-core and 4,863 in multi-core tests. Those figures are in line with other Snapdragon 8s Gen 3 devices, which suggests that day-to-day speed and gaming should be competitive in this bracket.
Cameras still remain a point of focus. The V70 Elite is expected to feature a 50MP Zeiss-backed telephoto lens with 3x optical zoom and 4K 60fps video recording. It’s also tipped to include a 50MP main sensor, ultrawide camera, and a 50MP front camera. Vivo is highlighting a larger 1.3cm sensor and a range of AI photography tools. Whether those features translate into consistently better photos will only be clear after full reviews. Other reported details include a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate, up to 5,000 nits peak brightness, and a 6,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging. The Elite variant is also expected to offer IP68 and IP69 ratings and extended software support.
Last year’s Vivo V60 5G started at Rs 36,999 for the 8GB + 128GB model and went up to Rs 45,999 for the top 16GB + 512GB variant. The leaked starting price for the V70 and the V70 Elite marks a noticeable step up. Battery size and charging speeds appear largely unchanged, so the extra money seems to be going towards stronger processors and what Vivo is positioning as more advanced camera hardware. Obviously the rising manufacturing costs are also at play here, and the V70 Elite seems to be filling the gap the pricier X300 series flagships and the missing Pro variant of the V-series have created.
If the leaked pricing holds, the V70 Elite will sit against options like the OnePlus 15R and OPPO Reno 15, with the Pixel 10a also likely in consideration. If the leaked prices are accurate, the V70 series makes the most sense for buyers who want capable cameras under the Rs 50,000 mark. However, it could be a bummer that the chipset is the same as the predecessor despite an expected hike. The V70 Elite’s stronger chipset may be worth the extra spend if you play games or use demanding apps regularly.
