Vivo’s latest foldable smartphone, the Vivo X Fold 6, could soon make its way to India. Tipster Sanju Choudhary claims the book-style foldable is slated to launch in the country in October, with another X-series smartphone expected to debut alongside it. While Vivo hasn’t confirmed an India launch timeline, the tip follows the phone’s recent debut in China. If the report is correct, the Vivo X Fold 6 could become the brand’s third foldable to launch in India after the X Fold 3 Pro and last year’s X Fold 5.

India launch details and expectations

Besides tipping the launch timeline, the tipster predicts the Vivo X Fold 6 will be priced above Rs 1.5 lakh in India. That’s as much as the Motorola Razr Fold, while the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 comes at a higher premium, starting at Rs 1,74,999. The OPPO Find N6 hasn’t launched in India yet.

The Vivo X Fold 6 was unveiled in China with a starting price of CNY 7,999 (around Rs 1.11 lakh), while the top-end 16GB + 1TB Black Gold Edition costs CNY 11,299 (around Rs 1.57 lakh). Indian pricing is expected to be higher after taxes and import duties, which aligns with the tipster’s claim of a price tag above Rs 1.5 lakh.

Vivo entered India’s foldable segment with the X Fold 3 Pro in 2024 and followed it up with the X Fold 5 in 2025, priced at Rs 1.49 lakh. An October launch for the X Fold 6 would continue the company’s annual refresh cycle.

Key specifications

The Vivo X Fold 6’s biggest highlight is its 7,000mAh silicon-carbon battery, one of the largest on any foldable smartphone. For comparison, the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 packs a 4,400mAh battery, while the OPPO Find N6 and Honor Magic V6 feature 6,000mAh and 6,660mAh batteries, respectively. Vivo has managed to fit the larger battery into a chassis that measures just 4.4 mm when unfolded and weighs 228 gms, making it only slightly thicker and heavier than its closest rivals.

The foldable sports an 8.02-inch Samsung M14 LTPO AMOLED inner display and a 6.51-inch LTPO AMOLED cover screen, both with a 120Hz refresh rate. Powering the device is the flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500 chipset, paired with up to 16GB RAM and 1TB storage. For cameras, The X Fold 6 features a Zeiss-backed triple rear camera setup comprising a 200MP primary sensor, a 50MP ultrawide camera and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens. It also includes dual 20MP selfie cameras, one on each display, along with support for 80W wired and 40W wireless charging.

If Vivo launches the X Fold 6 in India at the rumoured price, buyers will be paying a premium for its class-leading battery capacity and flagship camera hardware. However, those considering a foldable may still want to compare it against rivals from Samsung and Motorola, especially if festive season discounts narrow the price gap later this year. If you prioritize battery life and camera performance above all else in a foldable and are willing to pay a premium, the X Fold 6 could be a strong contender
