Vivo Y’s series has just bagged a new member in the form of Vivo Y60. Launched in China on Tuesday, the smartphone caters to users seeking an affordable smartphone with basic functionalities. The Vivo Y60 carries a large 6,500mAh battery, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, and a 13MP primary camera for everyday clicks. Starting at CNY 1,799 (approx Rs 25,000) for the base 6GB + 128GB storage, here’s what the device offers:

Firstly, getting the pricing out of the way, apart from the base 6GB +128GB storage model, the Vivo Y60 is available in 6GB + 256GB and 8GB + 256GB variants at CNY 1,999 (approx. Rs 28,000) and CNY 2,299 (approx. Rs 32,000), respectively. With the phone now up for grabs, it comes in three colourways, including Lucky Purple, Obsidian Black, and Shanhaiqing.

Up front, the Vivo Y60 features a 6.74-inch HD+ (720 x 1,600) LCD display with a 120Hz refresh rate. While an AMOLED panel would deliver more vibrant colours and deeper contrast, an LCD is still common in this price segment. As stated in the intro, the handset is powered by the Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 processor, a budget-oriented chipset that should offer enough prowess for running daily use apps like WhatsApp, Instagram, Facebook, etc. While the chipset is quite dated now, Vivo likely opted for it to keep the phone’s price competitive amid rising component costs.

If you’re looking forward to playing heavy games on this chipset, cashing in for more powerful alternatives may be the way to go. Moving on, the Vivo V60 runs on a 6,500mAh battery that supports up to 15W wired charging. Since the display is limited to just HD resolution, the device should offer excellent endurance with such a large battery in tow.

On the software front, the Y60 runs on Android 16 with OriginOS 6 layered on top, with the software update longevity unknown at the moment. Based on our experience with budget and midrange-oriented OriginOS-based smartphones, such as the iQOO Z11x (review), the software should offer consistent performance without much lag or delays during operations, such as opening apps or multitasking.

Other key additions on the Vivo Y60 worth knowing include an IP65-rated build for dust and water resistance, a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The Vivo Y60 is clearly built for users who want a big battery that easily lasts more than a day, smooth scrolling on a budget, and basic day-to-day usage. While the camera setup is very basic, the combination of a large 6,500mAh battery, 120Hz display, and IP65 rating makes it a safe choice in the entry-level segment.
