Xiaomi 17T launching in India on June 4th; could feature MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC, 50MP cameras, and more
It’s sub-flagship season, and Xiaomi is set to join the race as well. The OEM has confirmed the launch of the Xiaomi 17T in India, which will be followed by its global launch on May 28th, alongside the Xiaomi 17T Pro. However, the Xiaomi 17T Pro is unlikely to launch in the country. The Xiaomi 17T is expected to take on recently launched sub-flagships such as the OPPO Find X9s and Vivo X300 FE (review). Rumoured specifications include the MediaTek Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC, a 50MP triple rear camera setup, a 6,500mAh battery, and more.

Xiaomi 17T India launch date
The Xiaomi 17T will break cover in India on June 4. The handset is expected to be positioned below the Xiaomi 17, which is priced at Rs 89,999 in the country. However, with rising memory prices, that may not necessarily be the case. Interestingly, both the OPPO Find X9s and Vivo X300 FE are positioned above their respective, and more capable, flagship models: the Find X9 and X300.
If Xiaomi is able to price the 17T more competitively, it could give its rivals a run for their money. The handset is tipped to be priced at around €749 (approximately Rs 83,000) for the base 12GB + 256GB variant in Europe. This undercuts the Vivo X300 FE, which is priced at €999 (around Rs 1,11,500) for a similar configuration in the region.

Given that the Vivo device retails for Rs 79,999 in India, the Xiaomi 17T could land in a similar price bracket, making it a closely contested option in the sub-flagship space.

That said, leaks and rumours have already confirmed everything we need to know about the smartphone. The Xiaomi 17T could feature a 6.59-inch AMOLED display with a 1.5K resolution and 120Hz refresh rate. This is a pretty standard display specification for a sub-flagship. The phone’s design seems identical to its elder sibling, Xiaomi 17, with a squircle camera module and flat edges and display.
At its core may lie MediaTek’s mid-range Dimensity 8500 Ultra SoC. This may make it less powerful than the Vivo X300 FE and OPPO Find X9s, which rock a sub-flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9500s and Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC under the hood, respectively. In optics, the Xiaomi 17T is tipped to sport a triple rear camera setup comprising two 50MP sensors and a 12MP lens.
Up front, the handset is said to feature a 32MP snapper for selfies and video calling. The camera setup will be backed by Leica, similar to its elder siblings, to offer a range of DSLR-like photography styles, modes, and more.
The handset will reportedly house a 6,500mAh battery, which will be silicon-backed. Other rumoured features include dual SIM support, Android 16, and an IP68-rated build. While it is expected to be a sub-flagship, the specifications seem to be mostly mid-range. However, if Xiaomi is able to price it aggressively, say under Rs 75,000 in India, it could be a compelling smartphone to buy.
