The Xiaomi 18 series is expected to be among the first smartphones to feature Qualcomm’s next flagship chipset, which is rumoured to arrive in two variants: the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 and the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. With the chipsets expected to debut during the Snapdragon Summit on September 22nd, the Xiaomi 18 series could be released in China right after. Now, a new tip by the Chinese leakster, Digital Chat Station (DCS), gives us a glimpse of the specifications and upgrades the Xiaomi 18 Pro may carry.
Coming as the successor to the Xiaomi 17 Pro, which made massive waves for its secondary rear display, the 18 Pro could fetch an even higher price tag given the market’s memory shortage situation.

While DCS’s post doesn’t specify which smartphone is being referred to, the mention of a “small straight screen” and a 200MP periscope lens strongly suggests it is the Xiaomi 18 Pro. The other compact flagship in this category, the Vivo X500, is expected to feature a 64MP periscope instead.
Coming to the specifications, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could be powered by either of the processors in the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 series, both of which are expected to be based on a 2nm fabrication process, which could ideally result in significantly improved efficiency over the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5.
If the Xiaomi 17 Pro series’ bezels weren’t slim enough, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could feature even thinner symmetrical bezels and generously rounded corners, which should enhance the in-hand feel and comfort of holding the device for long hours. Earlier leaks have suggested that the OLED panel could measure 6.4-inches and may also be equipped with a Privacy Display-like feature, much like the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra.
The cameras could see a major improvement, as DCS reports that the Xiaomi 18 Pro will reportedly feature a triple-camera setup comprising a 200MP primary camera, a 200MP periscope with macro capabilities, and an ultrawide lens for capturing wide-angle shots. For reference, the Xiaomi 17 Pro featured triple 50MP cameras on the rear. With new 200MP sensors on board, the 18 Pro is likely to output sharper photos with better dynamic range.
Additionally, the device is expected to feature a massive 7,000mAh-class battery with support for 100W wired and wireless charging. Other rumoured upgrades include enhanced dual stereo speakers, a more powerful haptic motor, and several other internal refinements.
The Xiaomi 18 Pro is shaping up to be a significant leap forward, especially for users who want flagship performance in a relatively compact form factor. However, just like the Xiaomi 17 Pro series, the Xiaomi 18 Pro and Xiaomi 18 Pro Max could face the same fate by not coming to global markets, and are likely to remain China-only devices.
That being said, the Xiaomi 18 Pro looks like a well-rounded successor that will feature bleeding-edge performance, high-grade camera optics, tuned in partnership with LEICA, and an exquisite compact design. For those seeking a high-end small phone and are ready to spend a fortune, the Xiaomi 18 Pro could be worth waiting for, alongside the Vivo X500.
