The Lava Iris X9 is for those users who like large screen mobile phones for better media viewing and web-browsing experience. The budget smartphone comes with the latest software features thanks to Android Lollipop, offers a phablet-size 5.5-inch HD display, decent internal storage, and impressive camera specifications. However, disappointingly, it doesn't offer 4G connectivity.
Display, configuration and OS
The Lava Iris X9 sports a large 5.5-inch display bearing a resolution of 1,280 x 720 (HD), resulting into a pixel density of 267ppi, which ensures quality media experience. To provide protection against scratches and drops, the phone's screen has a layer of Asahi Dragontrail glass. The device looks premium thanks to the metallic frame.
The Irix X9 is equipped with a 1.3GHz quad-core processor, aided by 2GB of RAM, which deliver lag-free user experience. There's also an ARM Mali graphics processing unit to deliver smooth gaming experience. On the software front, the smartphone runs the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop out of the box.
Camera and storage
The Lava Iris X9 is among few of the budget Android smartphones to offer a 13-megapixel primary camera. The rear camera is aided by a BSI sensor, an LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, 5P lens, and a Blue Glass filter, which deliver quality images even in low light conditions. There's an 8MP front shooter on board as well, coupled with a BSI sensor and f/2.4 aperture for selfies and video-calling.
The phone offers a solid 16GB of internal memory to let you store all your media files, docs, and apps. The internal storage can be further increased up to 32GB by inserting a microSD card.
Connectivity and battery
The Lava Iris X9 is a dual-SIM smartphone with most connectivity options including 3G, Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Hotspot, Wi-Fi Direct, Bluetooth v4.0, microUSB 2.0, and A-GPS. A 2,500mAh lithium-ion battery keeps the smartphone running for hours.
