I like to point out one major flaw about this TV before anyone jumped into this ;nnPlease Note : THIS TV WILL NOT SUPPORT 1920X1080P SIGNAL FROM YOUR LAPTOP/DESKTOP/MAC COMPUTER. IF YOUR PURPOSE TO CONNECT THIS TV OVER HDMI AND USE AS LARGE MONITOR, PLEASE LOOKS ELSE WHERE. BECAUSE THIS TV DON'T HAVE DVI SIGNAL PROCESSING SUPPORT OVER HDMI. YOUR ONLY OPTION TO USE VGA PORT WHICH IS RIDICULOUS IN 2014. FOR THE DEBATE SAKE YOU CAN CONNECT YOUR PC OVER HDMI BUT IT WILL RECOGNIZE AS ANY REGULAR HDMI DEVICE AND YOU WILL SEE BELOW STANDERED PICTURE QUALITY - LIKE CHOPPED OF COLOR ETC. nnThe above thing also confirmed by Service Engineer who came to my house for installing and demo. Already make a post @ Philips Support Forum ->TV Forum->TV Connectivity Section titled as "Philips 40PFL5059/V7 - Can't able to handle 1080p Signal from Computer ?" - Anyone can read the details.nnNow it perfectly make sense why 40 inch FHD panel cost so less. nn---------------------------------------------------------------nnNow my Review / Feedback - (after using for 3 Days), nnThere is absolute no word what Flipkart & Philips done together, From FK side all the discount and exchange offer with 12 months EMI - (Interest back as cash back) with additional 10% discount during X-Mass Eve is to Hard to resists - To my case product is delivered in very polite & professional way by the E-Kart team and the pick up of the old CRT TV done at the same time,nnand once it delivered Philips after support activated and they even send their Engineer in my time/day of convince. nnPros : -nn1. All other review mentioning picture quality is true - nothing to add here.nn2. I found sound is quite sufficient for a such almost no bezel device - For regular TV watching it is adequate.nn3. There is full composite out so you can hook any 2.1 system with this TV - You may need RCA-3..5" converter cable though in case of your sound system got no provision for RCA.nn4.Despite many folks complains as well manual also say so - I found this TV support NTFS DRIVE over USB pretty much well - Though I agree there is limited codec support but the TV detect my two 1 TB drive 2.5" External (A-Data & Verbatim) very easily and play movie files from it along with Music & Picture.nn nCons: - nn1.Operating System of the TV is pretty basic - You get what you pay for - Very limited shortcut for adjusting Picture & Sound presets. There is no shortcut key for adjusting back-light - You need to go deep to adjust or control it.nn2.No Eco mode or Auto Energy saving mode like Samsung, where you can adjust 3 steps back light value with the shortcut of the key.nn3.Instruction manual was useless as wellnn4.For PC connectivity you must rely on VGA port as mentioned earlier.nn5.No Firmware upgrade for future - You stuck what you got forever.nn6.During playing video for the 1st Time from USB - it took 45 mins to figure out how to play the video Full Screen - at some point I start to believe there is no way to watch video in Full Screen at USB mode - and there is no info written at the manual about the same.nn7.Not so well thought out Remote Design (here I mean to usage of the remote button) - There is literally no function for Colored keys (Red/Blue/Yellow/Green) unless you are stuck into Analog Cable Signal - No user customizable button either. nn8. Great for HD content - but not so good for SD Content reason there is always over processing nature of this TV until you figure out how to tone down some of it's component.nnHooked up with TataSky HD+ connection and HD (sports) channels are truely shining with this TV...It really looks stunning but the same is not applicable for SD channels.nnDespite of all this being 40" FHD panel with such offer from FK and the Manufacturer of Philips with 3 years warranty it is Highly recommended and very VFM for 2nd or 3rd TV at home with it's stunning sexy looks and gorgeous picture quality.

THIS IS MY FIRST BUY WITH FLIPKART OF SUCH BIG AMOUNT. I WAS VERY DELIGHTED TO SEE THE LED TV BUT AFTER INSTALLATION I FOUND THAT THE TV IS UNABLE TO ACCESS HARD DRIVE DATA. THE TECHNICIAN TOLD THAT THE TV HAD RAM PROBLEM OK. NOW ON THE SECOND DAY THE TV WAS GOING WELL WHEN AFTER 2 HOURS THE TV GOT DEAD. IN FACT THE POWER LED ON THE TV WAS ALSO DEAD.I TOLD FLIPKART ABOUT THE INCIDENT AND THERE COOPERATION WAS VERY GOOD.THEY RETURNED THE DEFECTIVE TV AND REFUNDED THE THE WHOLE AMOUNT .n I WILL DEFINITELY RATE 5 STAR SERVICE FOR THIS QUALITY BUSINESS.

Received the TV within 1 day of ordering, and just another day more to get it installed. Awesome service as promised by flipkart. Happy about it. nWould begin with one negative, probably this is by luck in my set, received a faulty remote control (not quite faulty, but it misses the spring in battery chamber, the Philips executive has made it work makeshift with a conducting wire, and has promised would be replaced soon). Anyways, it does work fine currently. nnComing back to the TV, n1. The design and aesthetics is simply awesome. Probably this being a very latest model (Released in September/October 2014), the looks and design impresses way beyond any other tv in this range. n2. Picture quality is simply superb, While the HD channels have got a different dimension of clarity, the SD channels have got a finer touch as well (Pardon, if I am being too biased, but this being a personal opinion as compared to my previous LCD tv and other tvs I have tried out). Haven't quite tried out Samsung/Sony Latest products, so won't comment on the comparable quality of this.n3. A lot of reviews have spoken a bit negative on the sound, but I feel okay with it. Yes, it hasn't quite got superb bass/treble, but c'mmon if that is the audio quality we expect, we can always go for a home theatre, lets not be harsh on the TV for this.n4. 3 Years Warranty is an added advantage for this TVn5. The TV has got quite good response time and hardly lags in detection and mode switchesnnWell, what else do we require from a TV? 40 inches LED TV from the Brand of Philips, with a 3 Years warranty for which I paid 24.5k (after my old LCD exchange), I am quite happy about it and would definitely recommend

WOW !!.n.The most beautiful TV as far as I have seen.Trust me even Sony(My fav), Samsung and LG don't have an offering with extreme thin bezels(border) which was my requirement.n.The horizontal Philips branding part looks very premium kind of design..n.Detects USB drives very fast. Movie play is hassle free.n.Table mount and wall mount are very beautiful.n.Sound is loud enough with DTH connection.nnCons.n.Low USB movie play volume with select movies only & some movies sounded loud enough.I overcame this limitation by connecting 2.1 music system using 2 RCA male to 3.5 mm stereo female cable to AV out. Works very fine.nnVery very happy with the purchase..nnExcellent value for money..

About Flipkart: Rating : *nPhilips 40PFL5059 was available Rs 29990 on 24th and then it was available for Rs 30990 on the day of electronic sale (25th May) with 10% off option with Axis Bank and that too is not working. I made the purchase hoping that I will get discous of 2500 Rs with Axis card payment but that too was not done and had to call the customer care. Now they are saying that it will be credited to my card account in some time. nnThis is rediculous, why to put fake sale if you have to increase the price and then offer some silly discount which also dont works... nnAbout Philips TV: Rating : ***nPhilips 40PFL5059 is awesome for this price, very nice display, good picture quality however features available with this tv are very less. Menu options are very basic and navigation may make you feel like if you are using some old TV. My previous 32" Philips LCD had more options than this one like, color temperature, RGB adjustment etc.nnNo 3.55 sound output available which is big time let down and you have to use RCA cable if you want to connect external speakers. I felt 3.55 was giving better sound quality than RCA if you are using HDMI as source. nnOverall, not bad deal.
