The Moto G37 Power is Motorola’s answer to the several launches under Rs 16,000 by Realme, OPPO, Redmi, and other brands over the past few months. With its large battery, vegan-leather rear design, and capable processor for the price, the Moto G37 Power impressed us across these and other aspects in our review. However, just like every other phone, it has its shortcomings. Therefore, we quickly break down the reasons why you should and shouldn’t consider the Moto G37 Power as your next smartphone.

Reasons to buy the Moto G37 Power
Stellar battery endurance
The ‘Power’ in the Moto G37 Power truly lives up to its name with excellent battery life for everyday use. With a 7,000mAh battery on board, the G37 Power delivered a respectable runtime of 16 hours and 49 minutes in our in-house PCMark Battery Drain test, which simulates real-world tasks such as scrolling through documents, editing and playing videos, and web browsing.
Since benchmark numbers don’t tell the whole story, we personally tested the Moto G37 Power’s real-world battery life by running multiple applications and tasks on both WiFi and 5G mobile data. On a full charge, the handset delivered 10 hours and 15 minutes of screen time over the course of more than three days, indicating excellent battery endurance. The use cases included chatting on WhatsApp, scrolling through Instagram reels, playing YouTube videos, taking pictures, playing casual games, and streaming music in the background via Spotify.
Hefty design that doesn’t cause discomfort
The Moto G37 Power weighs 215g and measures 8.8mm in thickness, making it slightly heavier and thicker than its close rivals, such as the Realme C83 and OPPO K14x, both of which come at 212g. However, things fall in favour of the Moto G37 Power, as it features a vegan leather-finished rear panel, at least for the Capri and Nautical Blue colour shades. The Impenetrable (black) variant features a PMMA material back panel.
The vegan leather finish feels soothing to the touch and provides a comfortable grip during extended use. Additionally, the protruding camera housing acts as a natural ledge for your index finger when holding the phone upright. Then comes the durability aspects, such as an IP64 rating and MIL-STD-810H military-grade certification for safeguarding the phone against water splashes, dust, and minor drops.
Suitable performance for daily use
The Moto G37 Power runs on the MediaTek Dimensity 6400 processor. While it doesn’t match the performance of last year’s phones launched around Rs 15,000 with the Dimensity 7300 or 7400, it handles light to moderate usage comfortably.
In our experience with daily driving the Moto G37 Power, the handset was quick to launch and close apps, and the 120Hz refresh rate is enabled by default across almost all apps, unlike phones from Realme, Redmi, Tecno, etc. As noted in our review, the phone struggled to maintain consistent frame rates in games like Subway Surfers City after reaching a certain high score. In BGMI and CODM, one can expect an average frame rate of around 55 fps.
Offers stereo sound output, a rarity in this segment
Unlike its closest rivals, the Realme C83 and OPPO K14x, which only have single speakers, the Moto G37 Power offers a stereo speaker setup with Dolby Atmos support. While the 6.7-inch HD+ LCD panel may not match the contrasty, poppy tones of an AMOLED display, the stereo speakers certainly help provide an immersive viewing experience.
Reasons to skip the Moto G37 Power
Promised to get just one OS upgrade
While the Moto G37 Power is assured of three years of security updates, it’s limited to just one OS upgrade, i.e. Android 17. Even for a phone price around Rs 15,000, the bar is now set high with phones like the Redmi A7 Pro 5G offering four major Android upgrades at Rs 14,999.
Camera results may not look appealing to all
While the 50MP primary camera of the Moto G37 Power tries its best to deliver consistent and fairly sharp results for the price, we found the colour processing to be different from previous Motorola phones. While the outputs have a balanced dynamic range and good control over the highlights, the colours look washed out, making the images appear dull.
Though with a few editing touch-ups, the ideal colours and tones can be achieved, those who directly push out their images to social media may find the images to lack the poppiness and vibrancy.
Summing up
The Moto G37 Power is an ideal smartphone for those seeking a solid battery endurance, a comfortable in-hand feel, and a manageable level of performance for daily use. While the stereo speaker setup helps deliver an enjoyable media experience, the HD+ resolution display may not offer as crisp details as a 1080p panel.
On the other hand, you may want to skip the Moto G37 Power if long-term software updates are important to you, or if you prefer a phone that captures vibrant and punchy images.
