OnePlus flagship phones in 2026: which one is the right model for you?

OnePlus currently has as many as five flagship smartphones listed on its official website, and with prices steadily climbing, choosing the right one is no longer as straightforward. For instance, the compact flagship OnePlus 13s, which packs a more capable Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset, a power-efficient display, and a telephoto camera, is currently selling for less than the sub-flagship OnePlus 15R. However, there are a few where the OnePlus 15R holds an edge over the OnePlus 13s.

In this article, we break down the differences between the two and other OnePlus flagship smartphones to help you purchase the right one.

OnePlus 13R – Value for money

The OnePlus 13R (review) is the company’s most affordable flagship and value for money in some ways. Introduced in January 2025, the handset is currently selling at Rs 42,999. It boasts an LTPO panel, which is a rarity in the segment after the price hike. The panel is not only power-efficient, but also ensures fluid scrolling and animation with a dynamic refresh rate between 1Hz and 120Hz.

The smartphone ships with a flat 6.78-inch display that bears 1.5K resolution, 4,500 nits peak brightness, razor-thin bezels, and a centred punch-hole for the selfie camera. The display impresses with its exceptional brightness, punchy colours, and sharp visuals overall. Furthermore, it is backed by Corning Gorilla Glass 7i protection against minor drops and falls. The display also supports Aqua Touch 2.0 and Glove Mode to extend use cases in a variety of environments.

Key specs

  • 6.78-inch 1.5K 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display
  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC
  • 50MP+8MP+50MP rear cameras
  • 16MP front camera
  • 6,000mAh battery, 80W SuperVooc

The OnePlus 13R is also the most affordable OnePlus phone to feature a dedicated telephoto camera, offering 2x optical zoom for noticeably better-looking portraits compared to previous R-series models. The setup includes a 50MP Sony LYT-600 primary sensor, a 50MP telephoto lens, and an 8MP ultrawide camera. While it misses out on Hasselblad tuning, the cameras still deliver vibrant, detailed photos that are more than capable for the segment, especially in daylight and portrait photography.

The phone’s Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC may not top the charts on major benchmarking apps like AnTuTu, but it is still reliable for most day-to-day activities. The SoC is backed by 12GB/16GB LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB/512GB UFS 4.0 storage. The OnePlus 13R houses a massive 6,000mAh battery, which should easily last up to a day, with 80W SuperVOOC charging to top it up in no time.

The smartphone boots Android 15-based OxygenOS 15 out of the box, with OxygenOS 16 available via OTA update. The handset is guaranteed software support through Android 19 and security patches until early 2031. That said, the OnePlus 13R only comes with an IP65 rating, which is good enough to keep it safe from minor splashes of water.

OnePlus 13s – Compact flagship

The OnePlus 13s (review) is a much more powerful smartphone than the OnePlus 13R, but in a compact form factor. This means you miss out on the crucial, larger screen real estate that every gamer craves. Unless you don’t mind the missing ultrawide lens for wide-angle shots, the OnePlus 13s remains one of the most impressive flagships from the OEM as of now.

Key specs

  • 6.32-inch FHD+ 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC
  • 50MP+50MP rear cameras
  • 32MP front camera
  • 5,850mAh battery, 80W SuperVooc

The smartphone is powered by a generation-old flagship Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset paired with LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. This is an impressive combination, which, if optimised well with software, can get you a smooth experience for years to come. The OnePlus 13s runs OxygenOS 15 out of the box and, like the OnePlus 13R, is promised six years of support.

The OnePlus 13s also comes with a design identical to the latest flagship, the OnePlus 15; however, it is only IP65 dust and splash resistant. The fascia of the smartphone sports a power-efficient 6.32-inch LTPO AMOLED display that bears FHD+ resolution, 1Hz-120Hz refresh rate, and 1,800 nits HBM brightness. All of that comes together to deliver a peach of a viewing experience both indoors and outdoors.

In optics, the smartphone features a dual 50MP rear camera system with a dedicated 2x telephoto lens. The setup mirrors that of the OnePlus 13R, suggesting pleasing portrait shots in well-lit conditions and sharp images in both daylight and low light. The front camera has been improved, with a larger 32MP snapper as opposed to 16MP on its younger sibling.

The OnePlus 13s also addresses battery concerns often associated with compact smartphones, offering a large 5,850mAh capacity. This is supported by 80W SuperVOOC charging. The handset can comfortably last a full day or more and can be recharged quickly when required.

OnePlus 15R – Prioritises performance and battery life

The latest OnePlus 15R price hike has awkwardly positioned this sub-flagship offering above the actual flagship. Successor to the OnePlus 13R, the latest ‘R’ series phone brings notable upgrades in performance and battery life. The OnePlus 15R (review) is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC, which is built on the 3nm process and offers up to 50 percent faster CPU and 22 percent GPU performance compared to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. To further boost its performance, the OnePlus 15R is backed by faster LPDDR5X Ultra and UFS 4.1 storage compared to its predecessor.

Key specs

  • 6.83-inch FHD+ 165Hz AMOLED display
  • Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC
  • 50MP+8MP rear cameras
  • 32MP front camera
  • 7,400mAh battery, 80W SuperVooc

The OnePlus 15R has also gone bigger in size, with a 6.83-inch flat AMOLED display and up to a 165Hz refresh rate (on select titles). The handset actually delivers on that refresh rate for fast-paced games such as BGMI and COD: Mobile, offering smoother visuals and improved frame rates. However, the display is not LTPO, meaning it cannot dynamically adjust the refresh rate to conserve battery life. It also drops the resolution from 1.5K to FHD+, though the difference is marginal, and most users are unlikely to notice it in everyday use.

That said, the smartphone’s missing telephoto lens will be instantly apparent. The handset ships with a 50MP main + 8MP ultrawide dual rear cameras, which is fine for casual photography, with some room for improvement when capturing a wider perspective. The portraits are achieved using software wizardry and lack the finesse that a dedicated telephoto lens brings to the table, both with edge detection and sharpness.

The OnePlus 15R’s front camera is definitely improved over its predecessor. So is the battery life, which is optimised well to handle even demanding workloads all day long. Since the charging speeds remain unchanged, the handset may take marginally longer to juice up compared to its rival.

OnePlus has also taken the smartphone’s durability seriously, bumping its rating to flagship-level IP69K. As for software, the handset boots the latest Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 out of the box, with four major OS upgrades and six years of security updates.

OnePlus 13 – Compelling flagship option

The OnePlus 13 remains a compelling flagship option, striking an excellent balance between performance and versatility. Whether you are into gaming or mobile photography, the handset continues to prove its capabilities. Its Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset closely matches the latest Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 in performance, ensuring a smooth and responsive experience across demanding workloads. The SoC is paired with equally capable LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage for fast multitasking and app loading.

Key specs

  • 6.82-inch QHD+ 120Hz LTPO AMOLED display
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC
  • 50MP+50MP+50MP rear cameras
  • 32MP front camera
  • 6,000mAh battery, 100W SuperVooc, 50W AirVooc

On top of that, the OnePlus smartphone is the last of its kind to boast a 50MP Hasselblad camera system. The main camera remains the same as the OnePlus 13R, but the OnePlus outshines with a superior ultrawide lens and a 3x periscope telephoto lens. This ensures a far more versatile photography experience with reliable shots across sensors. The variety of Hasselblad modes, such as XPan and Master modes, further enhances the appeal.

The battery capacity of the OnePlus 13 is the same as its younger sibling’s, but it offers faster charging and the added convenience of wireless charging. The OnePlus 13 might not be as durable as the latest sub-flagship OnePlus 15R, but it is IP68/IP69 water- and dust-resistant certified.

OnePlus 13 5

The OnePlus 13 is not a compact smartphone by any means. In fact, it offers more screen real estate than many other OnePlus flagships with a 6.82-unch LTPO AMOLED display. To back that up, the handset supports QHD+ resolution for a sharp and immersive viewing experience. Furthermore, the handset will remain relevant until 2031 with at least three major OS upgrades and five years of security updates yet to come. The smartphone recently received the latest OxygenOS 16 update, bringing its overall experience on par with the latest flagship, the OnePlus 15.

OnePlus 15 – Balanced flagship with top-tier performance

The OnePlus 15 (review) remains the company’s most ambitious and premium smartphone in its flagship lineup. The brand has made some bold decisions with this device, including switching from 1.5K to a QHD+ display and replacing Hasselblad tuning with its in-house Detail Max engine. The change in imaging approach is less impactful than the display resolution adjustment. The Detail Max engine, combined with a versatile triple 50MP camera setup, a 50MP main sensor, 50MP ultrawide, and a 50MP 3x periscope telephoto lens, delivers consistent, detailed output across varied shooting conditions. While it may not lead the segment in outright camera performance, the system remains competent and well-suited to its intended usage.

Key specs

  • 6.78-inch 1.5K 165Hz LTPO AMOLED display
  • Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC
  • 50MP+50MP+50MP rear cameras
  • 32MP front camera
  • 7,300mAh battery, 120W SuperVooc, 50W AirVooc

The OnePlus 15 is designed for gamers and performance-focused users. It is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5, one of the most capable mobile platforms currently available, paired with LPDDR5X Ultra RAM and UFS 4.1 storage for fast and efficient performance. The handset handles demanding workloads with ease, with games such as Battlegrounds Mobile India and Call of Duty: Mobile supporting up to 165 fps for smoother gameplay. However, the lower display resolution slightly reduces overall visual impact, making the experience feel less immersive despite the strong performance on offer.

On the bright side, the OnePlus 15 stands out as one of the strongest battery performers in its class. Its 7,300mAh battery delivers excellent endurance, not only among other OnePlus flagships but also within the wider segment. In addition, it offers some of the fastest charging speeds available on a commercially available smartphone in India, allowing the device to top up very quickly when needed. The inclusion of 50W wireless charging further enhances convenience and makes everyday use easier.

The smartphone runs Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 out of the box and is promised four years of major OS upgrades along with six years of security updates. Unlike its predecessor, the OnePlus 15 adopts a flat-edged design with a flat display, moving away from curved surfaces for a more practical feel in hand. It also offers up to IP69K water and dust resistance, improving durability against high-pressure water and extreme conditions.
