At its Vivo Next 2026 event, Vivo introduced a slew of products, including its ambitious Vision Discover Edition, a mixed reality (MR) headset. Initially launched in China last year, the headset will now be available for Vivo X Fold 6 customers in India to experience at 15 Vivo Exclusive Stores across 10 cities. We got a chance to test it out at the company’s event in Delhi, where we dived headfirst into the headset to see what it has to offer.

I haven’t experienced the Apple Vision Pro because it never launched in India, but based on my time with the Vivo Vision Discover Edition, I imagine the experience would feel quite similar, only heavier. The Vision Discover Edition looks nearly identical to Apple’s MR headset, with a large visor-like display at the front, mesh panels on the sides, a separate battery pack, and a nose guard at the bottom. However, Vivo has done well to keep the headset relatively light at 398 grams, compared with the Apple Vision Pro’s 750–800 grams.
My limited time with the Vivo MR headset made me appreciate its weight, which feels nicely balanced and is well supported by the dual-loop strap with Velcro and an adjustable grip. You can also customise the fit with four different light seals and eight foam padding options. For people who wear glasses, the Vivo Vision also supports prescription lenses, allowing them to enjoy a clearer view without compromising their vision.

The right temple of the Vision MR headset features a digital crown on the top edge that also doubles as a Home button, while the bottom houses the volume rocker. The headset has an array of cameras and sensors that track your eye and hand movements, letting you interact with the device, navigate the UI, launch apps, play games, and more. In the demo area, I could select apps with my eyes, pinch to launch them, zoom in and out of maps, and interact with the 3D characters on the screen pretty seamlessly.
Furthermore, the Vision provided a 360-degree immersive environment for multitasking and a giant 120-foot virtual theatre screen for watching videos. Vivo claims the headset even lets you view spatial images in depth and play mixed reality games that blend into the room around you. Built-in speakers further enhance the experience.

The Snapdragon XR2+ Gen 2 SoC and dual 8K binocular micro-OLED displays handle all this for sharp visuals. In addition, the Vision Discover Edition comes with a separate, pocketable battery pack, roughly the size of a power bank, that connects magnetically to the headset via a proprietary cable.
“With the vivo Vision Discovery Edition, its first Mixed Reality (MR) headset, Vivo takes its premium experience beyond the smartphone and into spatial computing,” said the company at its Next 2026 event.
It is unlikely that the headset will go on sale in India, with no details about its pricing, which was exactly the case when Vivo introduced it in China. That said, Vivo X Fold 6 customers in India can enjoy priority walk-in access to experience the Vision Discover Edition at select partner stores. This access is available until January 5th, 2027, at 15 Vivo Exclusive Stores across 10 cities, including Bengaluru, Ahmedabad, Coimbatore, Indore, Dehradun, Delhi, Patna, Kolkata, Nagpur, and Mumbai.
