Bought this machine last week back.The pricing on flipkart is also lower than what you will get at dealer shops.Initially I was little apprehensive about buying a samsung laptop but it has exceeded my expectations so far.nnFirst the prosn-Great looking(silver colour machine in the mould of sony vaio t13 and apple mac)n-Very good display(matte or anti glare whatever you call is simply superb)n-Decent sound quality(can listen to youtube vides,watch movies without headphones)n-Fast machine with 3rd gen processor(2117u is actually good)n-Average battery life(3-4 hours)n-Keyboard is island/chiclet style and is quite nicen-Very silent in its operation(all sleekbooks/ultrabooks have noisy fan problem which is very disconcerting while working)n-Light in weightn-Comes with driver cd for win7 and 8.Installed win ultimate which is much better thann win8.nnCons:n-No usb3.0nnAll in all its a great budget machine by samsung and I am really impressed by the anti reflective display,processor speed and good sound quality.
Well the delivery was impeccable. I got it within 48 Hours of order. nnThe laptop looks very good, the keyboard and palm-rest area has very good high quality finish, the top cover is glossy and the bottom of laptop is cheap (trade-mark of Samsung to use cheap feeling plastic on its devices)nnScreen - Good brightness, rotates upto 150deg approxnWebcam - Not too good - I expected better as the specs say 720p HD webcamnKeyboard - The keyboard feels good to typenSpeakers - Volume is just decent - I would have preferred morenBattery - 3.5 - 4.5 HoursnUSB - No 3.0 Ports (And only 3 ports, so people who use wireless mouse might find it difficult)nnI installed Windows 8 pro (Build 9200), and I didn't require to install even a single driver from the internet. Everything works like a charm **Some of the fn keys like Brightness control don't work - I am waiting for Samsung to put up support drivers on it's website (There is no support firmware as on date)nnOverall Windows Performance Index Score - 4.4 (because of no graphics card - sub score in all other categories 5.9)nnI would say It's a perfect buy at this price point. I was thinking of buying a Lenovo or a Fujitsu laptop with 2nd Gen PDC earlier, but I went with Samsung, as this model (Release date :23-FEB-2013) hones a 3rd gen PDC (Pentium 2117U) processor and because of Ivy Bridge it has substantially a lot more battery life. In heavy (OMG-I-Got-A-New-Gadget Phase) usage , the laptop is giving a battery life of upto 4.5 Hours easily. nnOverall a Highly recommended product for someone who doesn't require heavy computing! I wanted to gift it to my mom, Hence found it perfect!
I am reviewing this from the very new laptop itself.nnHave tried to cover everything in granular (about laptop and rest some misc details)nnBooked this laptop on June 21st Saturday and received it on 24th evening. As usual rapid service from flipkart (i think no other online store can match them in this arena). received very much before 2 working days as sunday being holiday. But my order status still shows dispatched instead of delivered. nnNow coming to specs. nIt comes with intel PDC 2117U @1.8Ghz, 2MB L2,64 Bit processor. One great thing about this processor is that its based on ivy Bridge which is intel's 3rd generation processor architecture. What to expect? Performance wise a bit increase but around 20 to 25 % more power efficient resulting in more battery backup.nnRest of the specs you may be aware and nothing to boost upon.nnRegarding OS, better no to mention about freeDOS. so popped my elementary OS (beta 2) and works like charm with no issue with all hardware getting detected. but didnt wanted to stay with elementary OS even though it worked out of the box, the reason i dont like the locked desktop concept. moreover there will not be any clue on which are all the programs minimized. nnSo formatted and installed Linux Mint 14 Nadia with Cinnamon as desktop evn. Its just matter of few minutes (around 20 min) you are ready to go. Hardware detection was smooth as cake walk. As most of you are aware even an airtel 3G dongle works like a charm.nnMoving to looks. All plastic body, few have mentioned that its lower base of cheap plastic, i dont think so, did find HDD & RAM are easily accessible by removing a panel holden by single screw.nOverall the look is very good and from far looks like 40K laptop. Weight wise not much bulky as its 14 inch laptop. Believe me 14" is best size for anybody be it professional on the move or student. nn>>>>>PRO's
please do not but samsung products.......... service is the worst they will always find a way to get out i am facing the issue now even i have contacted the head office also even they give u worst servicennif u want to take risk then it is up to u.......
No complains about flipkart.. Awesome service as usual..nnI bought this for my father.. When I opened the cover i could not control my self seeing for a while.. The look and structure is awesome. You will feel like, holding a macbook.nnLets come to the laptop:nnPros:n1. Look and style is greatn2. Display is cooln3. Processor speed is also good enoughn4. Sound is greatn5. Battery backup is 4hrsn6. Does not heat or make noisen7. Light and super slim at this range..nnnCons:n1. The keypad is little lower qualityn2. Plastic around the keypad is also lil lower quality.n3.
