Glad I changed my mind....

I was looking for a slim yet powerful laptop & had zeroed in on a Sony Vaio. But thanks to Flipkart's recommendation, this caught my eye. In the end, I'm glad I chose this over its rivals.nnPros:nn-Slim, sleekn-Surprisingly good speakersn-Switchable graphicsn-Glides through everyday usage & handles graphic-intensive programs with relative easen-LED screen with pretty decent viewing anglesn-Non-glossy screen which I prefer but that's a personal preferencen-Very good battery life n-Optical drive (which is becoming rare these days on devices of this size)n-Keyboard feels solid & the layout isn't crampedn-Relatively light given how loaded it isn-Aggressive pricing. Could easily see Sony selling a comparable laptop for 50kn-Nice backpack included in the packagennCons:nn-Bit of the usual bloatware which takes few minutes to un-installn-Gets hot & the vents are at the bottom. Not ideal for usage on the bed or for long hours on one's lapn-Trackpad buttons have a plasticky feel & sound during usen-No blacklit keysnnnOverall, this is a great deal & while the A8 APU might not be as quick as an i5, it handles almost everything you throw at it without a hitch. Games at medium settings, programs such as Photoshop; not a problem. Browsing, watching movies etc is of course glitch-free.nnResale value in the future could be an issue given the Indian market's stigma against AMD machines.Personally, I don't believe in such trends as I have both AMD & Intel machines which I'm perfectly happy with. nnI'd recommend this to anyone looking for a solid, stylish, everyday laptop for under 40k.

Powerful Ultrathin Performer

Intel seems to demand a premium for their processors and they definitely have an edge over their AMD counterparts. However, AMD should not be considered "out" of the race in anyway what-so-ever.nnThis AMD "Ultrathin" notebook is identical in all external aspects as compared to Intel's "Ultrabook" offering, albeit the internal components, specifically being the processor / motherboard and graphics card.nnAlso, considering the fact that this one's INR 8-10k cheaper than the Intel model, this one definitely takes the cake.nnI use this laptop for basic gaming and casual computing, and things work absolutely fine, without any hiccups.nnPROS:n- Super sleek design (one of the thinnest available for this price and features)n- Optical Disk Drive (who uses them now-a-days you ask? you never know when you may require one!)n- 6 GB RAM (4 GB on motherboard + 2 GB DIMM - swap the 2 GB DIMM with another 4 GB if you want to take things to the extreme)n- Anti-Reflective Screen (Matte Finish)n- Decent battery life n- AMD Dual Graphics (Freedom to choose which graphics processor is used for which application / games. Also supports SLI/ Crossfire configuration)nnCONS:n- Bloat-ware (you will spend an easy hour or two removing them)n- Tends to heat up a bit (you're not going to get burned though - use a cooling pad with fans towards the back of the device, because that is where Samsung has placed the main air vent)nnTo sum things up, I'm very much satisfied with my buy.nn;)

Excellent, thin profile all around.

I've been using this laptop for past year and with this experience buyer will get more real life details than a week or month usage. So here it is. Spec wise its every good for price. Samsung did well with selecting hardware, only negative i can think of is dedicated GPU(Radeon 7500m series). I don't understand why they choose a dedicated GPU which is bit low end in a laptop which is nothing but ultra book form factor. Integrated GPU is more than enough for light usage considering its ultra book style and it will beat Intel based solution without dedicated gpu, Why not 1080p display instead of another useless GPU? Anyway, CPU is 4550m which is a ULV 19w cpu which i was looking forward to, which lowly 1.6Ghz with turbo core of 2.4Ghz, GPY with full 384 shader but with lower clock rate. 6GB ram, 4gm soldered with 2gb additional stick, why 2GB why not 4GB more to match? again useless choice. anyway it does support dual channel memory operation, more specifically, "ungange 128bit" operation. Build quality is good with premium look, good keys and touch pad feel. Overall good design. DVD writer is included along with 2 USB3.0 and 1 USB2 port along with SD card and HDMI,VGA,lan etc. Display is matte with good brightness and okay contrast and viewing angle. Good speaker output, excellent earphone output, you should get Sony XB50 headset with mic to complement it. 1TB seagate/samsung HDD is good choice but they should have added 32GB SSD for OS, it would be perfect if they had 32/64GB ssd instead of dedicated 7550m GPU. Windows 8 is included which i don't mind since i use classic shell free app for menu and desktop mode anyway. Its relatively fast compare to win7, but bottleneck is HDD. I replace HDD with samsung 256GB SSD, and voila, its fast and response for daily usage. CPU performance is good for normal workload,it will handle everything well, games are okay since its ultra book form factor which limit power of both cpu and GPU . Regarding heat output, it doesn't heatup that much, sure if you play games for hour it get heatup but that normal for any gaming laptop. I never face overheat shutdown even in summer with dual GPU operation, i used to play Grid for hours. Overall its every good for price but samsung could have made it even better if they had included a 32GB ssd instead of 7550m dedicated GPU or 1080p display. There are however some negative, Its ULV cpu and ultrabook form factor, that is, its thin laptop, so samsung placement of heatsink/cpu fan may not be like by some, because after prolong use top most keys may get heat up. As i mention, its has 19w cpu with 25w gpu, and its thin, so some may say its heat up, i'll tell them to show me any intel laptop with thin with GPU which doesn't heatup after playing game. Its a fact, GPU/gaming will produce heat no matter what. Inclusion of 1TB HDD is good, but addition of 32GB ssd would have made it irresistible , with addition of SSD i see lot of improvement, mostly, responsiveness and battery life as well. With HDD, average idle power usage is around 7-9w depending on display brightness but with SSD you get 6-7w, which increase battery life by atleast 1 hour or more. I used my laptop for more than 5 hour with SSD with light usage like word, music in background with occasional web usage. Remember youtube and video playback is GPU intensive so it will reduce battery time from 6 hours plus to 4-5 hours. Other negative i can think of is probably display, its good but not great, better than glossy HP display i had on my old G6 laptop. Overall, For 40k range its worth it. Or atleast it was worth it, now you should get laptop with AMD richland or kaveri core(55xx series or 7000 series apu instead of 4000 series).
