OPPO Reno15c Overview: The Perfect All-Rounder with Exceptionally Smooth ColorOS 16 and loads of AI

The OPPO Reno15c arrives as a refreshing addition to the Reno15 lineup, bringing all the signature Reno charm to a more accessible price point. With its mesmerising design, an exceptional camera system, and the smoothest OS experience I’ve ever used, it packs a lot of premium features without breaking the bank.

I’ve been using this device for a while now and have enjoyed my time with it. In this comprehensive review, I’ll share how the Reno15c manages to deliver one of the most well-rounded smartphone experiences at its price and why it might just be the perfect mid-ranger you’ve been waiting for.

A mesmerising stellar ring design

The OPPO Reno series has always led the industry when it comes to design innovation. Every new Reno series brings its own charm, and for the Reno15c, it’s undoubtedly the Stellar Ring Design. This particular design gracefully adorns the phone’s camera island, which is decorated with glittery specks that shine when light hits it at an angle.

The rear panel on its own has a very smooth, satin-like texture that feels extremely soft to the touch. The Afterglow Pink variant, in particular, has another key element that enhances its appeal. The border around that camera island features a special gradient effect called Aura Glow, which transforms with the light, giving the device an ethereal feel.

The design might fool you into thinking it’s quite delicate, but it isn’t at all. The Reno15c comes with IP66, IP68 and IP69 dust and water resistance, meaning it can repel simple water sprays to heated water jets for 30 minutes. This makes the device extremely practical for day-to-day use and gives me complete peace of mind.

A multimedia powerhouse

The Reno15c features a 6.5-inch AMOLED panel with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a sharp FHD+ resolution. The panel is extremely vibrant, and I had a lot of fun watching content on this display, be it the latest movie, a TV series or games. The colours have rich contrast and turn out incredibly vivid, and the viewing angles are excellent.

With 120Hz, everything feels buttery smooth and fluid. The device has a full 100% DCI-P3 colour gamut, so not only were the visuals impressive for content, but I could even do light editing work on the screen without issues. I’m somewhat of a clumsy person, so potential drops are something I worry a lot about. With the Reno15c, I feel much more at ease thanks to the Corning Gorilla Glass+ protection on the display. It ensures that even during accidental falls, the display comes out unscathed every time.

A dependable camera system across the board

The Reno15c 5G uses a 50MP primary sensor paired with an 8MP ultrawide sensor and a macro lens. At the front sits another 50MP wide-angle selfie camera with a 100-degree field of view. The camera system captures excellent detail and calibrates exposure and skin tones effectively, so images look naturally balanced straight out of the camera.

The ultrawide camera comes in very handy whenever you need to capture expansive frames, like a monument or a large group photo. But my favourite is the front camera. This is an excellent tool if you take a lot of selfies and group selfies. It has a 0.6x shooting mode, which can capture a very wide frame, ensuring you never have to leave anyone out of your pictures. It renders skin tones beautifully and preserves the natural essence of the photos, thanks to Reno PureTone technology, which is especially designed for Indian lighting conditions.

While the hardware alone is pretty impressive, the phone also includes a few cool imaging features to bring your pictures to life. I’m talking about the “Popout” feature here, which is a fun tool for anyone who loves sharing stories. It allows you to select up to 9 photos from the gallery and merge them into one frame, wherein you can easily popout from one frame to the other.

ColorOS Popout feature

It works best for scenarios like a “day in the life” story, for example, by grouping your market hopping, a lunch at a cafe, and a walk around a park into one image. It lets you tell a complete story in one frame without needing any extra editing apps. There are plenty of templates to choose from, so you can effectively bring your story to life.

Another feature is the AI Portrait Glow, which can alter and improve your portrait images by applying specific lighting styles, like “Rim Light” or “Studio Light”, directly to the subject’s face. You can churn out professional-looking portraits with ease using this feature. And then there are obviously the other AI features like AI Eraser, AI Reflection Remover, AI Enhance Clarity, etc, that make editing on-the-go super easy!

With the camera system out of the way, let’s now discuss how the device performs in day-to-day use.

The Smoothest Smartphone OS I’ve ever used

This is hands down the smoothest OS I’ve ever used in a smartphone. What’s more, OPPO promises 5 Android updates and 6 years of security patches, meaning your Reno15c will remain up-to-date for years to come!

With ColorOS 16, the ease with which I can switch between apps, experience scrolling, and the animations. Essentially, everything about the UI feels so fluid! That swiftness is all thanks to the all-new Luminous rendering engine and Trinity Engine, which act as the system’s intelligent core. This system works around the clock to ensure there are no micro-stutters whenever you switch between apps, scroll and tap, so everything moves smoothly.

It learns from your daily habits and schedules to allocate resources where they’re needed. As someone who often watches tonnes of content and juggles between games, the system recognises and anticipates my needs, managing resources so that the phone performs efficiently without aggressive battery drain.

Another reason why the UI feels so smooth is the animations, which have been implemented quite masterfully. Whenever you switch between apps, the stacked panel smoothly glides into the background, which is very pleasing to the eye. When you hold floating app windows, they seamlessly move around the screen as you intend to. Even resizing these floating windows from the edges is so fluid that it makes you feel in total control. This is a big part of why I like ColorOS 16 so much.

Excellent performance and endurance day in, day out.

The Snapdragon 6 Gen 1 processor powers all the phone’s needs. The chipset comes paired with up to 12GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 256GB of storage. This makes it an excellent choice for regular usage, heavy multitasking needs, and even gaming.

In my usage, I never had any issues with regular tasks. I could easily navigate between apps without delay, play my favourite games, and multitask across apps like YouTube, Notes, Google Chrome, and WhatsApp, all without the phone slowing down at all. There was no lag, no jitters, even during gaming.

With AI HyperBoost 2.0, my gaming sessions are always fuss-free. The phone manages performance intelligently to keep things running smoothly. It maintains temperature and boosts frame rates, so I never have to make manual adjustments during gameplay.

Ensuring that my Reno15c stays active throughout the day is the behemoth 7,000 mAh battery. I never have to worry about running out of juice, even on my busiest days, with this phone. The battery easily delivers over 1.5 days of usage even with heavy use, and casual users can expect up to 2.5 days before needing to recharge it.

Another great thing is the 80W SUPERVOOC™ charging support. It barely takes any time to recharge this massive battery, so I can easily go about my day without any worries.

Smart AI features with privacy at the core

Finally, there are plenty of productivity features to help you with your daily tasks. The AI Mind Space is the central hub which acts as your companion to help reduce digital clutter in your life. Save important moments and memories with just a three-finger swipe up to revisit later. The Smart Collections system can combine entries with similar names to keep things organised and easy to find. AI Mind Space comes with Gemini integration; you can directly query Gemini, and it will easily fetch the details saved in Mind Space for you, making it even more efficient.

There are also features like AI Translate and AI Call Translate to help you bridge language gaps. For instance, I often stumble upon new Japanese words and phrases I’d like to learn, and the device can effortlessly help me translate these in real time.

And then there’s privacy. A smartphone is anyone’s digital vault, and the Reno15c takes that seriously. With OPPO Lock, you can remotely block your device through customer care, while a chip-level deep lock keeps data encrypted. Dual verification ensures that even if someone accesses your password, they’d still need your biometrics to unlock it. The Private Computing Cloud stores crucial documents, IDs, and private moments locally without cloud syncing, protecting against potential data leaks.

Conclusion

The OPPO Reno15c feels like a breath of fresh air in the mid-range segment. It brings all the core DNA of its bigger siblings to a more accessible price point without compromising on the essentials. It fills a gap for users who want a premium experience without stretching their budget.

For content creators, the Popout and AI Portrait Glow features unlock new creative possibilities, while the 7,000mAh battery ensures power users never have to worry about running out of juice. Even for everyday users, it delivers a premium experience with its mesmerising Stellar Ring design, IP68-IP69 durability, and the smoothest OS I’ve used in a smartphone.

The Reno15c is a complete package that prioritises what actually matters: dependable performance, a versatile camera system, and battery life that just keeps going. The phone is currently available for sale, starting at Rs 34,999 on OPPO e-store, Amazon, Flipkart and all mainline retail outlets. To make the offer more lucrative, OPPO also offers a 10% instant bank discount of up to Rs 3,799, bringing the effective starting price down to just Rs 31,200.
