As India’s PC gaming market matures, it sheds its “budget-first” skin to reveal a landscape hungry for elite performance. With the market projected to hit a staggering $6 billion by 2030, the conversation has shifted from entry-level utility to high-stakes premiumization. We had a chat with Roopak Krishnan, Head of Marketing and Category at Logitech India, to discuss why Tier-2 cities are ditching cheap gear, how AI is actually changing the game, and why the “elitist” tag doesn’t scare a brand focused on pro-grade perfection.
1. Logitech has been one of the market leaders for PC accessories. Can you shed light on how the PC accessories market has evolved in India over the past few years?
Over the past few years, the Indian PC accessories market has evolved from a utility-driven category to one shaped by lifestyle, performance, and productivity, driven largely by hybrid work and the rapid growth of gaming.
Today, esports players and casual gamers are increasingly opting for high-performance peripherals featuring mechanical switches, high-DPI precision sensors like Logitech HERO 2, hybrid optical-mechanical switches, Haptic Inductive Trigger System (HITS) for real-time feedback, and low-latency wireless technology.
At the same time, professionals spending 8–10 hours at their desks are moving toward ergonomic solutions such as vertical mice, ergonomic keyboards, and adjustable monitor stands, alongside AI-enabled peripherals like webcams with auto-framing and microphones with AI-driven noise suppression. A key shift is toward software-enabled hardware, such as Logitech MX Master 4 with Options+, which can save up to 33% time through Actions Ring shortcuts, and Logitech G HUB, which allows gamers to remap buttons, adjust sensitivity, customize RGB lighting, and create profiles to unlock the full potential of their devices.
2. India is projected to be the fastest-growing market in APAC with a 17.3% CAGR. The data projects the market reaching nearly $6 billion by 2030. Are we seeing this growth driven primarily by new users entering the ecosystem, or is the bigger story in 2026 the ‘upgrade economy’, existing gamers moving from budget gear to premium setups?”
The 17.3% CAGR you mentioned is a massive indicator of premiumization. The broader story is a shift from volume to value. The most significant trend this year is indeed existing gamers upgrading to superior performance products and setups. While India continues to add millions of gamers annually, the profile of the new user has evolved. Gamers are increasingly moving from mobile to cross-platform experiences, which has led to a rise in PC and console gaming for a more immersive experience.
3. Are Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities still buying entry-level gear, or are we seeing a surge in demand for high-performance peripherals (like the G-Pro series) in non-metro hubs? Do you think India as a market is ready to “pay for quality” or is still a price-conscious market when it comes to PC accessories?
Tier-2 and Tier-3 city gamers are moving from a price-first market to a reliability-first market. Gamers in these cities are leading this shift because they represent the largest new pool of serious hobbyists who are tired of replacing cheap gear every six months. Warranty, reliability, and durability are the biggest quality metrics. Among Indian gamers residing in non-metro cities, the aspirations have shifted. Young gamers in these regions follow the same streamers and esports athletes as those in Mumbai or Bengaluru. If their favorite pro player uses a G Pro X Superlight 2 DEX, that becomes the gold standard rather than a luxury. E-commerce accessibility has erased the metro-only availability barrier. A gamer in a small town can now order an esports-grade Pro series mouse with the same ease as someone in a metro city.
4. The introduction of PowerPlay 2 seems to be a direct answer to ‘battery anxiety.’ With wireless now being the standard even for pros, how do you see wireless charging evolving? Do you envision a future where the entire desk surface is a charging zone, rather than just the mousepad?
You are right that POWERPLAY 2 removes the battery anxiety and also features a cloth mat on it, which almost every gamer prefers. We have streamlined POWERPLAY 2 to ensure it is easy to set up and use. Simply plug in POWERPLAY 2, pop in the coin, and game on. It is that simple: powered, ready, no strings attached. Talking about a future where the entire desk surface is a charging zone, it is not a technological barrier. However, we have to evaluate it through the lens of efficiency, practicality, and cost.
5. At a price point that often exceeds the cost of a mid-range motherboard, how do you justify the value of the PowerPlay 2 system to an Indian audience that is historically “wired” for value?
POWERPLAY 2 is not positioned as a traditional mousepad; it is part of a performance ecosystem. For competitive gamers, consistency is everything. Even brief charging interruptions can disrupt rhythm and muscle memory. POWERPLAY 2 eliminates that friction by enabling continuous wireless charging during gameplay. This eliminates battery anxiety and ensures uninterrupted performance, a key advantage for competitive gamers. The value lies in long-term convenience, uninterrupted performance, and reduced wear from constant plug-in cycles. For serious gamers who invest in premium wireless mice, it enhances the overall experience rather than acting as a standalone accessory.
6. Adding on to the previous question, with some “Pro” mice now pushing the ₹15,000–₹20,000 bracket, is Logitech worried about becoming an “elitist” brand in a country where the average gamer’s monthly budget might be less than that?
India’s gaming market is projected to reach approximately $6 billion by 2030, with a 17.3% CAGR as referenced in an earlier question. This growth signals premiumisation and not just expansion in volume. We look at the market in terms of progression, not exclusion. Every category has entry, mid, and pro tiers. Premium products exist to push innovation boundaries and serve competitive users who demand the highest performance standards. At the same time, we maintain a wide portfolio across price segments to ensure accessibility. Innovation at the top often benefits the entire lineup over time.
In the starting range, we offer products like the G102 and other accessible performance mice that introduce gamers to precision hardware. The mid-range includes products such as the G502 series and mechanical gaming keyboards that balance advanced features with value. At the niche, high-performance end, the PRO Series, including models like the G Pro X Superlight 2, is built for competitive players who demand elite-level precision and lightweight engineering.
7. We’ve reached a point where wireless latency is effectively zero. As we move deeper into 2026, what is the next frontier for performance? Is it lighter weight, new sensor physics, or software integration?
Gaming gear technology is not about conquering one barrier. It is about delivering a seamless, immersive experience to the user. All features, like weight, sensor like Hero2, PTFE feet of the mouse, type of keys, polling rate, acceleration, precision, and software such as G HUB, work together to define performance. Our pro-grade mice are built on grip telemetry and mapped for fatigue. Every shell is pressure-tested and iterated for instinctive control over thousands of hours of gameplay. We will continue to bring innovations with every iteration.
8. There used to be a trade-off: ergonomic mice were heavy, and pro mice were light but uncomfortable. With your new lightweight ergonomic builds, have we finally killed that compromise? How do you convince a pro esports athlete to switch to an ‘ergo’ shape?
The industry has evolved significantly. Historically, ergonomic mice were heavier due to structural design. However, newer lightweight ergonomic builds focus on weight optimisation without compromising palm support. Through grip telemetry, fatigue mapping, and iterative testing with esports professionals, design now balances structural integrity with reduced weight. We at Logitech design peripherals based on how players actually hold, move, and control their devices during long sessions. The conversation is no longer “ergo vs lightweight”; it’s about performance informed by real player data.
9. In 2026, the line between a ‘gamer’ and a ‘streamer/creator’ is almost invisible in India. How is Logitech ensuring that a single setup works for both? Are you prioritising software features (like Logitech G Hub) that cater to this dual-use case?
While gaming and streaming remain distinct roles, personalisation and customisation are what bring them together. For our segment, this convergence means peripherals must serve dual roles: delivering competitive precision while also enabling high-quality content output. Logitech G HUB allows deep customization from remapping buttons and sensitivity adjustments to RGB profiles, ensuring performance consistency during gameplay. At the same time, our broader ecosystem supports AI-enhanced webcams like MX Brio, especially for Streamers and creators, microphone tuning, and workflow optimization. This ensures that a single setup can support competitive gameplay and high-quality content production without switching ecosystems.
10. If we look ahead to that $5.8 billion target in 2030, what does the average Indian gaming desk look like? Is it minimal and screen-less (VR/AR), or do you see the classic PC desktop remaining the king of high-performance gaming?
It’s difficult to predict exactly what the average setup will look like, but what remains constant is the need for precision, performance, and personalization. While technologies like AR and VR will continue to evolve and find their place, competitive and high-performance gaming will still rely heavily on powerful PC setups paired with responsive, low-latency peripherals.
The gaming desk of the future will likely be more streamlined, wireless, and software-integrated, but the fundamentals of control, accuracy, and immersive audio will remain central. Ultimately, regardless of format, the focus will be on delivering a seamless, consistent performance and immersive experience for gamers.
11. The Logitech Z906 were one of my personal favourite speakers, especially for gaming. Can we expect a successor anytime soon? Can you shed light on Logitech’s PC speaker portfolio?
The Z906 is also one of my personal favourites. We continue to offer Z906, and it remains one of the most loved products in its segment. Currently, there are no plans for a successor.
12. PC component prices (GPUs, RAM) have been volatile. Does this hurt the peripheral market, or do gamers spend more on high-quality mice and keyboards because they can’t afford a full PC upgrade?
As discussed earlier, gamers continue to upgrade their peripherals. Therefore, we do not see component price volatility significantly impacting the gaming peripherals market.
13. Multiple brands like Kreo, Cosmic Byte, and Redgear are catching up with “good enough” gear at 1/4th the price. We also have good quality options from premium brands like Corsair, HyperX, and Razer. What is the one thing Logitech does that a competing brand can never replicate, no matter how much they iterate?
I cannot speak about other brands. However, Logitech continues to innovate and bring best-in-class products with cutting-edge technology that set the industry benchmarks, which our consumers have loved for years. We will continue to build on the legacy of the Logitech G brand, which is designed and trusted by esports professionals. The Logitech G PRO Series was created with one goal: to give competitive players the edge to win. Engineered with the direct feedback of hundreds of esports pros, every product is shaped by elite insight through real-world experience and relentless testing.
14. Gaming is no longer a “boys’ club” in India. How has the feedback from the growing community of female gamers in India influenced the ergonomic “form factors” you’re launching this year?
India’s gaming ecosystem is becoming significantly more diverse. According to the 2025 Lumikai report, 44% of gamers in India are now women, highlighting how gaming is no longer a niche or male-dominated space. This shift has reinforced the importance of inclusive and adaptable ergonomic design. Instead of designing for a single hand profile or grip assumption, modern peripherals must accommodate varied hand sizes, grip styles, and usage patterns. Feedback across user groups, including female gamers, has influenced a greater focus on balanced weight distribution, comfort for longer sessions, and versatile form factors. The goal is not to create “separate” products, but to engineer devices that deliver pro-grade performance while being accessible and comfortable for a broader spectrum of gamers.
15. If you could only take one Logitech product into a pro-tournament tomorrow to protect your reputation, which one would it be and why?
If I had to take one product into a pro tournament to protect our reputation, it would be the Logitech G PRO X Superlight 2 DEX.
