Vivo and its sub-brand iQOO have now confirmed that the OriginOS 6 update will come to two older phones, namely the iQOO Neo 7 and iQOO Neo 7 Pro, sometime in the first half of 2026. The rollout of OriginOS 6 will start with the iQOO 13 and iQOO 12 for iQOO users, which will then be followed by Neo 7 and Neo 7 Pro from mid-2026.
The update follows Vivo’s wider rollout of OriginOS 6 in India, which replaces the long-running Funtouch OS platform. OriginOS 6, based on android 16, aims to bring a cleaner interface, smoother animations, and deeper AI integration across the system. The rollout began with the Vivo X200 series earlier this month, followed by the X100 series and other older Vivo foldables. The update schedule now stretches through 2026, gradually covering both Vivo and iQOO smartphones.
Announced in 2023, the iQOO Neo 7 and Neo 7 Pro ran Android 13-based Funtouch OS 13 out of the box. The two phones later received updates up to Android 15, and now with OriginOS 6, they will make the jump to Android 16, going beyond iQOO’s promise of two major Android upgrades and three years of security support.
While functional, Funtouch OS was often criticised by its users for a cluttered interface and heavy customisation that sometimes brought performance slowdowns or inconsistent navigation. Notifications and system animations also felt less polished compared to cleaner Android skins like OxygenOS or Pixel UI.
With the new release of OriginOS 6, Vivo hopes to improve upon these areas. The new OriginOS 6 interface is minimalistic, mostly focusing on better app fluidity, enhanced privacy controls, and AI-assisted memory management for better multitasking and longer battery life. In addition, it provides more advanced customisation of themes and connects better with other IoT devices for a more consistent user experience.
While there is no specific date yet, the update is likely to mark a significant change in the overall software experience for older versions of iQOO models.
