Samsung announces plans to expand Galaxy AI to 400 million devices in 2025

Highlights
  • Galaxy AI was introduced with the Galaxy S24 series last year.
  • Features like Photo Assist, Audio Eraser, Interpreter, and Live Translate are among the most popular.
  • Samsung has also started rolling out the latest One UI 8 software update.

Samsung plans to make Galaxy AI available on over 400 million devices globally by the end of 2025, marking one of the company’s most aggressive pushes into artificial intelligence. The company introduced its AI ecosystem last year with the Galaxy S24 series, which was described as the world’s first AI-powered phone. Since then, Samsung has steadily integrated AI into its broader Galaxy ecosystem, including wearables, tablets, and PCs, under the umbrella of its latest software version, One UI 8.

Most used Galaxy AI features

Samsung, in a press release, said that demand for AI features is rising quickly. More than 70 percent of Galaxy S25 users are actively using Galaxy AI, and the recently launched Galaxy Z Flip7 and Z Fold7 have brought these features to even more users, according to the brand. Among the most used AI tools are Photo Assist, which helps edit and enhance pictures directly in the Gallery app, and Audio Eraser, which can remove unwanted background noise from videos. Samsung said usage of Photo Assist nearly doubled among Galaxy S25 users compared to the S24.

Other widely adopted features include Interpreter and Live Translate, which are designed to make cross-language communication seamless in real time. Samsung also highlighted its partnership with Google, bringing Gemini Live and Circle to Search to its devices, with more than half of Galaxy S25 owners reportedly using Circle to Search on a daily basis.

Samsung’s latest flagship lineup, including the Galaxy S25 lineup, Galaxy Z Flip7, and Z Fold7, is powered by Samsung’s ProVisual Engine, designed to enhance customisation and editing. Features such as Generative Edit allow users to remove distractions from photos and create polished visuals instantly.

Samsung R&D Institute Bengaluru (SRI-B), which is the company’s largest research centre outside Korea, has also contributed significantly to Galaxy AI features. These include Photo Assist, Audio Eraser, Interpreter, Live Translate, and Now Brief. Galaxy AI is also available in Hindi in addition to 30 languages and dialects.

Samsung has been consistently pushing Galaxy AI to its wide portfolio of smartphones. What started first as a premium suite of AI features for the flagship lineup soon expanded to more devices, including the Galaxy A-series. The latest One UI 8 software also comes with multimodal AI that further enhances existing AI features like Gemini Live and Circle to Search. Beyond smartphones, Galaxy AI is available in other devices too, like the recently launched Galaxy Buds3 FE and Galaxy Tab S11 series

Samsung’s push comes at a time when global smartphone makers are racing to differentiate through AI. Apple, Google, and Chinese OEMs have all introduced AI-driven features in their latest devices, but Samsung’s early start with the Galaxy S24 series in 2024 has given it an edge in branding. By expanding AI across its portfolio, Samsung aims to cement its position as a leader in the AI smartphone space.
