Samsung’s newly launched foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8, have received more than 2.71 lakh pre-orders in India within the first 72 hours of launch, setting a new pre-order record for the company’s foldable lineup. The new Galaxy Z series reached the milestone much faster than last year’s foldables. The company said it took around 15 days for the Galaxy Z Fold7 and Galaxy Z Flip7 to receive a similar number of pre-orders.
Samsung also highlighted growing demand outside major metropolitan cities. The company said 45 percent of pre-orders came from Tier 2 cities and smaller towns, suggesting that foldable smartphones are seeing wider adoption beyond traditional premium smartphone markets. The South Korean brand added that it now expects the Galaxy Z Fold8 series and Galaxy Z Flip8 to match the pre-order numbers achieved by the Galaxy S26 series earlier this year.
The new lineup was unveiled globally on July 22nd and includes three foldable smartphones across different price segments. The Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra starts at Rs 1,99,999, the Galaxy Z Fold8 is priced from Rs 1,79,999, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 starts at Rs 1,24,999. The company is also offering a 30-month, zero down payment, no-cost EMI option for the new foldables in India.
Among the three models, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the flagship, featuring an 8-inch foldable display, a 200MP primary camera, Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy chipset and a 5,000mAh battery. The standard Galaxy Z Fold8 offers a lighter design, dual 50MP rear cameras and a 4,800mAh battery, while the Galaxy Z Flip8 has a compact form factor with a redesigned FlexWindow cover display, Galaxy AI features and a 50MP main camera.
Samsung has also introduced several AI-powered features across the lineup, including Now Brief, Now Nudge, Gemini Intelligence and Gemini Notebook, alongside updated privacy tools through One UI 9 and Samsung Knox.
