Spigen Tough Armor case for Google Pixel 11 Pro review: rugged protection, few thoughtful touches
The Google Pixel 11 Pro boasts a solid aluminium body, with Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protecting both the front and back. The handset can take a few beatings and survive the occasional misadventure, but like Captain America, it can also use a shield to protect itself and, at the same time, maintain its brand-new look even after years of use. What better way to do that than with Spigen, a brand known for its durable, stylish, and reliable smartphone cases and premium tempered glasses?
While there are a few options (at least for cases), I got my hands on the Spigen Tough Armor, Glas.tR EZ dFit Pro, and Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro Optiks for the Google Pixel 11 Pro. I’ve been using them with my daily driver to see how they hold up in everyday use. Here are my two cents, starting with the price.

The Spigen case and tempered glass protectors feel premium, with both made from high-quality materials. The Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro and Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro Optik come with two sets of protectors for the display and rear cameras, respectively. This means you can keep the spare set for later or have a backup in case the first installation doesn’t go as planned. That said, Spigen has made it really easy to apply tempered glass on the Google Pixel 11 Pro.
Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro and Pro Optik installations
Both the screen and camera visor protectors from Spigen for the Google Pixel 11 Pro come with a complete installation kit, making it easy to apply them without worrying about alignment or air bubbles. A step-by-step guide is included, and the entire process takes no more than two minutes. Here’s how to do it:
- Clean the surface using the provided microfiber cloth.
- Use the ‘Lens & Screen’ wipe to remove any fingerprints or smudges.
- If you notice any tiny dust particles left on the surface, use the dust-removal sticker to get rid of them.
- Place the installation pad over the screen or camera visor, as instructed.
- The tempered glass is already attached to the installation pad.
- Gently hold the installation pad against the phone from the sides –> Pull the layer marked ‘1’ –> Press and slide from the middle of the installation pad towards the top. Remove the back tape from the top and slowly lift the installation pad.
- Use the provided pry tool to remove any remaining bubbles from the edges, and voila! Your screen and camera protectors are installed.
Spigen also provides a tool to safely remove a previously installed screen protector without damaging or scratching the glass underneath.
Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro and Pro Optik features
Both Spigen Glass.tR EZ Fit Pro and Pro Optik feel smooth to the touch and as natural as touching the glass, thanks to the Oleophobic coating, which also keeps fingerprints and smudges at bay as much as possible. I was initially sceptical about applying the Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro Optik over the cameras, but it has performed well without affecting image quality. It is also easy to clean whenever needed.
Why does the camera protector matter, one may ask? The camera visor, which is a defining element of Pixel smartphones, remains exposed and has a glass surface that is more susceptible to scratches than the individual camera rings during everyday use. These scratches can then appear in the camera’s field of view, potentially affecting overall image quality.
The protectors not only protect the display and the camera from scratches but also feature a shatterproof film and 10H+ hardness, helping safeguard them against minor drops and falls. I’ve been using the phone as my daily driver and keeping it in the same jeans pocket as my keys and coins. Even after pulling it out multiple times a day over two weeks of use, the protectors have remained completely unscathed. I even accidentally dropped the phone from roughly 3 feet height and there was no damage to the screen protectors whatsoever.
Spigen recommends re-registering your fingerprint after applying the tempered glass to ensure the in-display fingerprint scanner works seamlessly. However, I didn’t have to go through that process, as my pre-registered fingerprint worked just fine. This goes to show that the tempered glass doesn’t alter the display functionality in any way, keeping it just the same as the company intended.
Spigen Tough Armor
The Spigen Tough Armor is a MagFit-compatible case for the Google Pixel 11 Pro, and it does exactly what its name suggests: it armours the phone. The case combines a flexible TPU layer with a hard, detachable plastic cladding to protect the phone from the bumps and blows it may encounter in everyday use. In fact, its rugged construction gives you the confidence to take the phone on a bit more of an adventure. The case features XRD Foam strategically placed around the corners, one of the most vulnerable areas of a smartphone, for added impact protection.
Furthermore, the case has a raised lip that keeps the display and camera visor from coming into direct contact with the surface. The added protection around the camera visor is particularly important, considering the paint on my Google Pixel 11 had started to chip during my week-long usage. The Pro variant, touchwood, remained unaffected with the case on.
The Spigen Tough Armor case also features a built-in kickstand for viewing content on the go. That said, the stand only supports horizontal orientation, which is a bummer in an age when people are more into vertically oriented content. Nevertheless, there are a few thoughtful touches on the case, such as the recessed and textured power button, which makes it easy to identify next to the volume rockers.
The case even sports a magnetic ring for PixelSnap connectivity, allowing you to attach magnetic wallets, chargers, and other compatible accessories to the phone. The relatively rugged form factor does add some heft, but I appreciate the non-slippery surface, which offers a solid grip compared with the phone itself.
Verdict
Spigen has become synonymous with premium, durable cases, tempered glass, and other smartphone accessories, and that reputation continues with its Google Pixel 11 Pro accessories. The Tough Armor and Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro are relatively more expensive than other options out there, but they have plenty going for them, starting with the installation process. The Spigen Glas.tR EZ Fit Pro and Pro Optik are as easy to install as they come. Moreover, you get spares with both options, so one can be reserved for later use.
The screen protector also feels smooth to the touch and delivers a natural experience. As for the case, the Spigen Tough Armor instils confidence with its durability, all-around protection, and excellent grip. The kickstand and MagSafe support are the icing on the cake.
