Design and Display
The Xiaomi Mi Band 2 flaunts a 0.42-inch OLED screen that has the protection of a scratch resistant glass and an anti-fingerprint coating for that extra layer of protection.
It comes with a stylish button at the edge of display, which enables you scroll through three different screens. They are - time, steps and heart rate information.
It has a silicone strap which holds the screen in place, and is claimed by Xiaomi to be made from a more breathable, anti-sweat material, which is great as you will not feel the need to take it off frequently. It is available in black, orange, green and blue colour variants.
Features
The Mi Band 2 has an IP67 water and dust-resistance certification, that allows you to wear it in the shower and also permits you to carry out work that involves water, without harming the device.
As far as tracking goes, you get an optical heart rate monitor that Xiaomi claims will offer improved accuracy over the previous Mi Band Pulse. A new pedometer algorithm coupled with ultra low power accelerometers is also designed to deliver improvements to step tracking.
The display lets you receive smartphone notification in the form of vibrations for incoming calls and texts. Like its predecessor, the Mi Band 2 can be used to unlock a selection of Android smartphones.
Mi Fit Application
The Mi Fit app is compatible with Android and iOS and is quite a basic application. It collects data from the band and collates it in a series of graphs, one for steps and activity, the other for sleep. These are then put into historical graphs covering the day, week, and month. Significant exercise periods are highlighted each day, with the time, distance, and calories burned all shown. Sleep gets a similar treatment, with the amount of time spent in bed, a deep- and light-sleep phase split, and the time you went to sleep and woke up
Battery
In terms of battery life, the Mi Band 2 packs a 70mAh battery which can deliver up to 20 days on standby.
