An inferior phone for India again!

I wanted to inform all prospective buyers that the HTC One S variant that is being released in India is NOT the same as the one unveiled in the MWC or the one you'll see in most reviews and comparisons online.nnThis version of the One S has a 1.7 GHz, Dual Core Snapdragon S3 processor. The original One S comes with a dual-core 1.5 GHz Snapdragon S4 processor on Krait architecture which blows most competition out of the market. (Dual-core speak). The S4 processor uses a 28 nanometer process. (smaller transistors, more scope for overclocking), processor cores use a totally new architecture called “Krait”, whereas the S3 uses the old "Scorpion" architecture. “Krait” supports dual channel memory, just makes everything significantly zippier. It supports a huge range of wireless standards too.nnThe reason the One S was touted to be such a great phone, was hugely because of the S4 on board which HTC have taken away from us. (Some supply shortage from Qualcomm they say). They've overclocked it to 1.7Ghz to keep the ignorant folk happy.nnNot that an average user will even be able to tell the difference, but as a matter of principle, i feel that HTC has palmed off an inferior device to us. Without expandable memory and a price just about 4k less than an SGS3, i would recommend you think wisely before buying this phone.

HTC is cheating Indian Customers

Come on HTC do you think Indian customers are fools and will part with their monies just because you are HTC ? Be warned that you will be wiped out of India soon if you do not give the second largest potential mobile phone market customers what they deserve. They will simply kick you out of India, you arrogant nincompoops. nnHTC One S is almost same as Sensation and Sensation XE with an overclocked previous gen Snapdragon processor save for some insignificant changes here and there, please do not take Indian customers as granted and repeatedly insult them by launching inferior products at such high price points. Do you think you can sell your phone just because it has ICS and Sense 4.0 and with such an inflated price tag. I think HTC is doomed in India, lest you start treating Indian customers with respect.nnYou have already delayed ICS updates to your existing customers in India just to sell your new products but soon customers will realize how you are cheating Indian customers. India is probably the last county of the world which will receive ICS update.nnI have already bought my last HTC Phone, a HTC sensation and I a m not buying a HTC ever again.

Please Do Not Buy this Phone

Please **Do Not Buy this Phone** and let the companies know that we will not take all inferior crap that they throw at us.nnThe model releasing in U.k/U.S as explained by the folks above me is of superior quality because of the s4 snap dragon processor. I think they have missed out on Highlighting a few important differences,n====ni) s3 processor is a year old technology. The Galaxy note runs on a s3 processor. But why would you want to spend 33k for a year old dual core technology when you get a quad core 1.4-1.5 ghz processors on htc one x and samsung galaxy s3 respectively at just 6 thousand rupees more.(P.s- I know its not just 6 thousand rupees but when your ready to shell out so much money from your pocket why not go for the best).nnii)The s3 snapdragon process consumes 10-15 % more battery. This wouldn't make a huge difference on a normal phone but trust me on a smart phone it makes a lot of difference. Say if the s4 snapdragon processor gives gives about 10 hours of talk time reducing it by 15% would mean just 8.5 hours of talk time. nniii) There are heating issues that have been reported by consumers using the s3 snap dragon processors.nniv)If you really want to buy this phone then just get it from U.k or U.S. However please be aware that if you are buying the phone from U.S or U.k you cannot claim warranty until you pay $35. So if something happens to your phone and say its a defect with the phone itself you will still have to pay $35 dollars to claim warranty.n============nnThink 100 times before buying this phone guys. Let HTC realise that we are not fools and they cannot put a high price tag on mobile phones as they wish and sell them here.

The Biggest Disappointment Ever

Facts:n1) HTC One S (the Indian variant) ships with a dual-core Snapdragon S3 processor (Scorpion), alongwith an Adreno 220 GPU, instead of the international version, which has a dual-core Snapdragon S4 (Krait) processor and an Adreno 225 GPU. For comparison's sake, the dual-core S4 processor is even better than the quad-core processors on the Galaxy S3 and the HTC One X , and the Adreno 225 GPU offers 4 times better graphical performance than the Adreno 220.nn2) The HTC One S is being launched for around 33000 rupees. Literally a joke by HTC. For 34k, one can purchase the HTC One X online. Also, it offers nothing new to the table in terms of features. Do not go by video reviews of this phone, as they are probably of the international version, so expect the Indian one to have major issues in terms of performance.nn3) The battery on this phone is very average (1650mA), though the Krait processor's excellent efficiency was the reason for the smaller number. But by using the Scorpion Processor in the Indian variant, expect the battery life to be very measly.nn4) HTC's major intention of pricing this phone so high is that it wants to establish itself as a "Premium Brand". That by trying to fool Indian shoppers by offering them inferior products.nnHonestly, I'm shocked HTC is even considering releasing this phone in the Indian market, without any information on the lower quality processor or the GPU. Even its official website mentions that the Processor is a "Dual-core 1.7 GHz processor", cleverly forgetting to mention the generation of processor (S3).nnThe least HTC can do is inform the people whether they can atleast expect the Indian Market to get the newer generation chipset in the One S at a later stage.

Major letdown... if you really want to buy this, buy from USUK

This is major letdown.. been waiting for this for a long long time ,disappointed, been holding up my purchase of Xperia S but now it is a no brainer..nn1. This model is the inferior version with the S3 processor overclocked to 1.7Ghz along with the Adreno 220 GPU instead of the advanced and more power efficient Krait S4 processor with Adreno 225 GPU. This one is same as on the Sensation XE, just overclocked by 200 MHz. The Sensation already has pathetic battery life. Did they really think that overclocking an inferior processor you can make it sound better :-S.. nnIt is really weird that international version comes with S4 and Asian version with S3 and that also means that there may be either none at all or very few custom roms for this hardware :-|, which at least for me a major reason for buying android..nn2. At abt 3k more you can get the big brother OneX... still do not understand why price this so high.. if you wanted to just kill it, why even bother to launch?nn3. For 3k less you can get Xperia S with bravia engine and 1280X720 display and 12MP camera, 32 GB storage.. better front camera, NFC, separate HMDI, and GLONASS.. and yes.. it will get the ICS soon enough..nn4. for even less you can get Galaxy S2.nnThis is more like Sensation repackaged and being sold at premium.. only positive I see about this phone is ICS out of the box and Sense 4.. and ICS will be available for most dual core phones soon enough if it is not already there.. so that just leaves Sense 4.. so the question does Sense UI commands that much premium?
