IMDbIn 2006, the author James Frey was made to publicly admit that the book was not a memoir, but fiction. Oprah Winfrey was one of his biggest supporters at the time. She redacted her support and publicly shamed him for passing the lie as truth and profiting from it on The Oprah Winfrey Show: Episode dated 26 January 2006 (2006).
The book was for years set up at Warner Bros., but the Taylor-Johnson husband-and-wife team extricated it. Million Little Pieces became controversial after Frey was exposed for inventing or embellishing parts of the story that was originally presented as a memoir.
After the book was published, Warner Bros. planned on making a film adaptation of it with Orlando Bloom and Josh Hartnett in mind.
Is based on the book of the same name by James Frey.
The song played in the background is Everybody Hurts by REM.
