TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

Ingrid Bergman's last movie.

Ingrid Bergman's daughter, Pia Lindström accepted her Outstanding Lead Actress in a Limited Series or a Special Emmy for this movie posthumously. Bergman died three weeks prior to the ceremony, after the ballots were cast.

The scene where Golda Meir says "I'll know what to say when time comes" was the last scene ever shot by Ingrid Bergman.

To prepare for her role of Israeli Prime Minister Golda Meir, in this movie, Ingrid Bergman travelled around Israel and interviewed those who had known Golda. She spent many hours studying old newsreels to master Golda's mannerisms. She was sixty-six-years-old at the time.

Nastassja Kinski, who looked remarkably like a young Ingrid Bergman, was suggested for the role of young Golda, but Bergman felt an unknown actress would be more suitable. Judy Davis was selected and received an Emmy nomination for her work.

Popular Dialogues

"Golda Meir: The Foreign Ministry is full of sophisticated intellectuals with Oxford and Cambridge Educations. How could I fit in with them? David Ben-Gurion: You will make them fit in with you, I know you will. You know, when somebody asked me how I could make a woman my foreign minister, You know what I said - Golda is the best man in my cabinet."

"Golda Meir: I'll know when the time comes to say it."
