TRIVIA AND POPULAR DIALOGUES

Trivia

The film also includes Mark Kermode and Simon Mayo, who review the film on a radio talk show seen on screen..

Writer-director Simon Amstell drew from his own life writing this semi-autobiographical paean to film making and insecure (or dysfunctional) gay relationships and messy breakups, about a writer-director-actor character named Benjamin (portrayed by Colin Morgan), who also drew from his own life to write the script for the semi-autobiographical film he is making about a filmmaker who wrote, directed, and acted in a film about a filmmaker in an insecure (or dysfunctional) gay relationship going through a messy breakup.

In the 14th March 2019 edition of his BBC Radio 5 Live show, film critic Mark Kermode declined to review Benjamin in accordance with his policy of not doing so for any movie in which he appears. He did, however, quote from reviews of the film by other critics where they had commented on his and Simon Mayo's cameo appearance.

Joel Fry and Ellie Kendrick have both previously appeared on the hit-series Game of Thrones (2011).

Popular Dialogues

"[last lines] Benjamin: Do you wanna move in with me? Noah: What? Benjamin: I know. I'm sorry. I was scared I wasn't capable of love, which, I think, was actually just to cover the really scary thing which is that I love you. Noah: It's just ridiculous. Benjamin: Can you stay another week, maybe? Noah: No I can't. [pause] Noah: Come to Paris! Benjamin: Paris? I can't move to Paris. Noah: Why not? Benjamin: I've got a career. Like where would I live, who'd I be in Paris? [pause] Benjamin: Okay."

"Benjamin: I mean, will we want to do this again? Or... Harry: I think it was... kind of a experiment, you know. Benjamin: Oh great! What was the result? You let me know."
