In the series the city of St. Louis is renamed Defiance. There really is a Defiance, Missouri. It is about 40 miles west of St. Louis and is where Daniel Boone settled.
In season 3 episode 2, actress Linda Hamilton (Pilar) says "Come with me if you want to live.", a famous phrase from the Terminator movie series, which she previously starred in as Sarah Connor.
The show was cancelled by Syfy after three seasons on October 16, 2015.
Julie Benz (Amanda Rosewater) and Jaime Murray (Stahma Tarr) previously worked together on the second season of Dexter (2006).
