Rogan (played by actor Nathan Jones) is reading a book titled "Tenth of December" by George Saunders. It contains the short story "Escape from Spiderhead," on which this movie is based.
Despite portraying character "Verlaine," Mark Paguio is referred to as "Mark" (the actor's real first name) the entire duration of the movie.
Laura Dern and Charles Parnell shot a scene in the film where Abnesti (Hemsworth's character) presented his ideas to a board, but the entire sequence was cut from the final film.
This marks the third collaboration between director Joseph Kosinski and actor Miles Teller, after Only the Brave (2017) and Top Gun: Maverick (2022), which was released just 3 weeks prior to this film.
This is the first Joseph Kosinski film to be rated R. His other films, Tron: Legacy (2010), Oblivion (2013), Only the Brave (2017), and Top Gun: Maverick (2022) were rated either PG or PG-13.
"Abnesti: The time to worry about crossing lines was... a lot of lines ago."
"Abnesti: What do I keep saying to you, huh ? Verlaine: I dunno... shut up, Mark?"
